Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

Maybe - but I was only responding to what had been fired at me..!!

Look simply my take is that this window thus far has been abysmal..!!

We had/still have a great opportunity but the inertia in transfer dealings thus far means that whatever momentum we gained from winning the FA Cup and qualifying is in danger of being wasted due to our normal strategy of procrastination in transfer windows in terms of getting our business done early..

The whole Europe thing in terms of transfer budget is a nonsense - as others have said it’s less than £10M - which is nothing in terms of premier league transfers..!!

Other teams are doing business and improving there squads - we are not, so in real terms we’re going backwards..!!

We require quality in depth in the squad and that needs to happen quickly otherwise we’re going to struggle big time in terms of dealing with a European campaign as well as domestically.

Funds are available it’s widely reported we have £90M of head room in relation to PSR - so why the inertia..??

It’s that simple..!!

Not asking you to agree with me, but that’s my view as things stand at the moment..!!

I think your whole position falls down at the highlighted comment, we wont know until September 1st, so be patient and wait, if nobody arrives then i will be furious, but lets see what happens.

Burnley have signed 11 players, 4 of whom were on Loan to the club last season.
Leeds have signed 7 players.
Sunderland have signed 9 players, 1 of whom was on Loan last season.
Promoted clubs almost also go on a splurge due to increased revenue and trying to get quality to stay up. Given last 2 seasons all been relegated there not the yardstick to benchmark ourselves

Mere speculation on my part, but it would be no surprise if Glasner gave Parish some names he was interested in - much as he did with Lacroix and Kamada.
It would also be no surprise also if he offered to do some groundwork on such names including the sounding out of their interest in joining Palace.

Of course Parish could reasonably take the view that Glasner only has a yesr remaining and doesn't want to be saddled with Glasner's choices , in particular if a new manager didn't want them.

As I say, mere speculation, but it is a conundrum for the club when the manager only has a year left .

Bad news in the Glasner press conference.

Nketiah has more or less missed the pre season as well as the injury and will be out effectively for 3 months.

Kphora has a back injury and missed most of pre season.

Franca is injured again and has not had a pre season- no return date given.

Doucoure has had a setback with his knee and will be out at least a couple of months.

There are no discussions planned on a new contract for Glasner.

Asked about transfer dealings Glasner said he felt that the club was 'passive. '

No doubt this will annoy many on here, but I think the club has not provided adequate support to Glasner in this pre season to date.

It's clear that these injuries are not new and it's a mystery why the club has been 'passive .'

But we are branded negative and deluded for saying that this window has been a disgrace by not adding players and not doing business early.

We can write off Franca now, looks like Doucoure has gone the same way. Nketiah will be back Nov time, not sure with Kphora, no news on Riad which is good tbf. sounds like Glasner will see out this season & then thats it, he had another pop at the board. Never dull at Palace, that's for sure.

Because we're waiting until the last minute as we usually do?

Literally just a suggestion... and a pretty wishful one at this stage. You get the feeling we may not sign anyone else at all!

I expect Glasner will be off, with the first decent offer he gets. West Ham sacking Potter, wouldn't entirely surprise me.

Squad is already looking thin already with the injuries and again we'll be waiting until deadline day.

In a sense we could be cutting our noses of to spite our faces with the delay in signings.

It's clear from the press conference that Nketiah, Franca, Doucoure and Kphora have not really been available for pre season training.

The fact that they are all injured with no firm return date is now in the public domain.

Selling clubs will know we are under pressure to add players going into a new season and I would suggest this puts them in a better negotiating position than a few weeks ago when our injuries were not known about.

It also means that for the time being Glasner may have to include Edouard/JRS/Ahamada in squads when really they are not in his plans, but we probably can't let them go (if there are buyers).until we get new players.

All feels a bit grim

Which may be why we haven't sold JRS to Rangers yet and why we may possibly not be trying too hard to offload the other two.

We might keep all three until the January window.

Two or three weeks back I was happy to not be critical about our transfer business thinking the club wouldn’t let OG stew again. Now I see OG on Sky, and it’s only to clear even with a couple of weeks left in the window, he knows he has been let down. After everything attained last season . How can the club be as passive? As OG rather kindly refers to the situation. And why am I not completely surprised? That’s a question for me I know but ,Palace are making a bit of a habit of this. It would be good to think otherwise but my monies on Glasner, not extending , looking at him today he has probably already decided that.

Hmm doesn’t look good Chaps does it..!!

My take on that so called first teamers we have fit are;

Henderson
Benetiz
Munoz
Clyne
Richards
Lerma
Lacroix
Guehi
Mitchell
Sosa
Wharton
Kamada
Deveney
Hughes
Eze
Sarr
Esse
Mateta

Then we have the likes of Rak Sakai, Edouard and Ahamada - all of whom we are trying to get rid of..!!

With none of the walking injured coming back anytime soon - if at all in the case of Doucoure and Franca

So a threadbare squad of 18, including 2 keepers for not only the Community Shield but an upcoming 6 fixtures in 6 weeks including 2 in Europe, Chelsea, Forest and Villa..!!

Say if we get 2 injuries to key players in the Community Shield on Sunday - we’re stuffed..!!

Then OG describing our window as “passive”..!! That ain’t great - clearly not happy..!!

This is exactly why I have been calling out for getting our Business done early, now we’re in a mess again..!! And as has been said meaning that we’re now going to pay a premium for signings because every other team knows it.!!

Now we really have gone backwards and it’s all down to this year in year out strategy of inertia in the window and late business - it just doesn’t work and costs us big time..!!

😡

JRS couldn’t get in the Sheffield Utd team at the end of the Championship last season - now you’re suggesting he’s good enough for the Prem and Europe - get real..!!

In a “ mess again “ - well hopefully similar to last season when we won a trophy for the first time ever.

Here’s a clip from a journalist that I chanced upon - you won’t agree with it of course ;

Clubs (and especially coaches) love talking about how they want to get their business done early so they can have all the players available for preseason training. And sure, there's a lot of value in that, especially when the manager is new or the playing system is changing or there are a bunch of newcomers. But what they like even more is getting the best possible players and the best possible deals. And to do that, you often have to go down to the wire.

That's part of the reason why transfer activity picks up significantly in the second half of August, when the transfer countdown clock starts ticking toward the Sept. 1 deadline, after which you're generally stuck -- stuck with a player you don't want, stuck in a place you don't want to be or stuck with a hole in your finances or in your lineup.

I notice you’ve changed tack from blaming Parish since I called you out on it .

You’re clutching at straws Mate..!!

I told you before I’m not blaming Parish - just the strategy - what part of that don’t you understand..??
