I have no time for religious fanaticism of any sort or identifying one's self with a religion, but if I'm forced to choose between Islam and Judaism, I know who I'm going with.

i do not recall the UK being bludgeoned by any Jewish Rape gangs or any kids concerts in Manchester getting bombed by Jewish fanatics.

I would suggest all those Nigels & Karens who wave Palestine Flags on our streets should grow up. Maybe spend a week in a UK jail to learn a few truths about religious fundamentalism.

Israel is no better than any other foreign nation and the absurd levels of protection it gets from criticism is pretty weird.

I get your point and we have touched on this before. Like it or not, Israel is newsworthy. Some endless, brutal civil war in Bum F**k Nowhere Land is not.

There are a number of reasons for this, not least the far-reaching consequences and the fact that people here largely see people there as more like us (but without the Imperial guilt - South Africa).

It is at least academically interesting that this site is largely dominated by those who are of nationalist, populist, far right persuasion (at least from me). 100 years ago you would have been antisemites to a man. Now, you largely and blindly back a Jewish state and label any critics of anything it does as "Jew haters". Is this because you and Israel are now united behind a hatred of one new enemy. Islam.

This manifests itself in many ways, treating Hamas and Israel as equivalent entities is one fave method.

I think if you articulated Israel's perspective and could see its fears you might get a bit more consideration for your views.

You can be against what's happening but also understand why it's happening, many Jews would agree with being against the choices made, even some Zionists.

The point is what is the best outcome for Israel.....I've never believed the two state solution to be possible. For me it has to be a one state solution....now there are many variations on how that could happen....it doesn't have to mean flattening the place and making it unlivable.

But if it's just going to be 'Israel = evil' you can see how that's going to pack you some heat.

Israel for all its faults is western and it matters to many in the west and not just Jews.

Iran use to be western.....wanting Persia back isn't a sin either.

Yes, I never regarded this 'war' as a sensible course of action and of course their nuclear capacity is unlikely to have been 'obliterated' as Trump claimed.

It will take Iran some time to stabilise, so I wouldn't be so sure that change won't happen in Iran.....whether what happens is good for them or us will yet been seen.

Trump will have made more enemies on both sides here....Israeli and Iranian.

I predict more attempts on him.

Probably using disposable Manchurian candidates.
