Christian Palace

Yes I can.
Divinity is a human concept. This is at the heart of the matter.

Divinity, deities, worship, prayer, dogma. These are all human inventions. They bear no relation to the reality of the universe, whatever that might be.

Get a grip.
My apologies. I was going by your earlier post that said you couldn't rule it out just like you couldn't rule out that the moon is made of cheese. You did then rule out that the moon is made of cheese though, so it follows that you would rule this out as well.

You're like Kamada, constantly changing your position so the opposition can't get ahead. A good tactic!

You are like someone who can't read posts properly.

I couldn't be more consistent when it comes to this subject.

Why exactly did you enter this discussion? You have contributed nothing.

Consistently inconsistent. Like Eze at the beginning of last season! Hopefully you'll come good soon 👍

Good trolling.

If your intention was to make yourself look stupid, congratulations are in order.

Thank you, but I don't need the internet to make me look stupid, my stupid face does that for me.

No I wasn't trolling but I couldn't think what else to say. But I'll have a go, then I'll leave this thread alone (there's a reason I don't delve into the murky depths of the "news and politics" thread!)

Your headline argument of "There is no God and I know better than everyone else" came through load and clear. I agree that was very consistent. But your posts are sketchy on the details. e.g. you actually are open to believe in some cosmic whatever, without proof, while anyone who actually does believe in it is too stupid for words. So why leave the door open, is it in case you get a lobotomy? I don't understand. But wait, 2 posts later you don't think that's possible anymore. Phew, no lobotomy needed.

It's like that the whole way through - you contradicted your earlier posts twice in your first three replies to me.

And the spaghetti monster argument is nonsense to a person of religion, as I'm sure you are aware as you seem intelligent and well read so that is just deliberately baiting them. You already know this no doubt, but no one has any lived experience of a spaghetti monster, it is clearly and openly a made up parody and doesn't address the question of "is there something, or nothing", it has no coherence, no historical or theological basis, the list goes on. Whilst God also probably doesn't exist, based on eye witness accounts of people who claim to see him or have experienced his presence over thousands of years across the entire planet, it is infinitely more likely that He does (or something approximating to a God at least). No one has seriously claimed to have seen or experienced a flying spaghetti monster - Dawkins admits he made it up. And to pre-empt your response to that, yes you can argue that the loch ness monster is also infinitely more likely to exist than the spaghetti monster and no that doesn't detract from the point being made.

I think if you anyone is going to write as if their word is gospel, they should make sure it is a bit more consistent than the actual gospel (to also include Lanzo-Ad's point!). And hopefully realise that this is a really serious topic for some people - it is their whole lives, their purpose, their reason to exist. I think it's beyond contempt the way they've been spoken to on here, especially by fellow Palace supporters they stand next to week in week out, and indirectly to the players we cheer on together every week. There's respectful dialogue and there's being a keyboard warrior (Yes I realise the hypocrisy of my own there, I promise I won't make a habit of it).

Anyway, that's why I joined the conversation. I think I did contribute but unfortunately you missed it. And apologies (seriously this time, not sarcastically like last time I apologised) if it looked like trolling. I thought a couple of well placed traps would make the point but that appears to have been too light a touch.

As promised I'll leave this thread alone now, so you can respond with whatever you like - apologise for being rude, shrug it off, defend your position or go on the attack. It makes no odds to me I won't read it.

I will leave you with Eaglesdare's opening sentence of this thread, and our little to-and-fro sums up exactly why he phrased it the way he did.

In the world we live in today I find it so refreshing to see our players openly talking about their faith and even in the goal celebrations. And even in interviews Eze praises God first.

So you are running away to avoid having to defend your position? OK.

The 'spaghetti monster' is a simple way to expose the absurdity of the no disproof being some sort of proof argument. It is not disparaging of believers, it's only mocking a particular argument they sometimes use. Dawkins could argue it far better than I.

You say that many people claim to have seen God like it's some kind of proof.
Lots of people have seen Bigfoot. Is that proof?
Lots of people see dead relatives and friends. Is that proof of ghosts or an afterlife?

It isn't really any kind of proof unless it is substantiated by more than one person, and even then it is not really acceptable as proof of actuality.
More importantly, it doesn't really explain the nature of what they see or why.

For me, religious belief is a combination of indoctrination, wishful thinking, fear of death, fear of life, fear of taking responsibility for one's own actions and fear of the apparent stark meaninglessness of existence.
It also allows people to feel part of something bigger and potentially leads to social interactions.

Man made God for his own purposes just like all the other gods and other things we have worshipped over the millennia, and I find it tragic and laughable in equal measure that some people in the last couple of thousand years think that their chosen deity is better or more real than the rest, even if they can't agree on the details. It's totally nuts in fact.

What's wrong with Odin or Zeus or maybe Ra? Why not hedge your bets?
Even Yahweh originally had a wife, Asherah. Maybe she would do.

I find it very cringey. It's 2025.
I don't mind if they keep it to themselves and it makes them feel good - but I'd rather they praised the manager, coaching staff and fans than their faith.
I just don't get why they have to tell everyone - they're as bad as the evangelical vegans.
If I was Ollie and I'd spent hours improving a player and he then goes on telly and says it's all down to god, I'd think "Cheers mate" then walk off disconsolately and buy a new jumper to cheer myself up.
Please re-arrange the words " missed completely point I the" into a sentence. I find it more than cringey that you feel that everyone has to conform to your narrow-minded views. I am not religious, but I dislike misinformation and bigotry and am happy to leave that to the knuckle draggers.

Unfortunately for you, 90% of our first team squad are of multi-faith and hold religious beliefs ie: Guehi, Le Croix, Sarr, Eze, Mitchell, Ward, Munoz, Richards. Nketiah, Franca, Lerma, JP Mateta,

That leaves Hendo, Wharton, Devenny and couple more as unknowns. This season, there has been an unimaginable togetherness between the players, fans and management - that is down to belief. As it says before each game, "Palace is our church" - you don't have to believe in God to be part of this, just have faith in good like most Palce supporters seem to.

Yours, An evangelical Agnostic Vegetarian Palace supporter since 1968

PS Btw, Where are these 'Evangelical Vegans' that you speak of? They are not doing a very good job cos I've never heard from them, unlike 'Just Stop Oil'.

Lots of views, as the great Saint Dave of Allen said, may your God go with you
Doesn't seem to have done much so far in the middle east, oh, i forgot, must be a test of faith, for the 23,756th time.
