Everton vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Not feeling optimistic about this season and I think it will be case of avoiding relegation but I hope Sage proves to be a considered appointment. It may take time at the expense of success. A certain Sir Alex was under huge pressure back in 1990 but went on to win the FA Cup Final.. and more.

Hopefully with more time on the training ground he can implement his ideas and methods to which the players will appreciate.

We’ve lost (again) to Everton away but how would we feel if it was at home to Hull City.. I can’t imagine there’s many Utd fans enjoying their Saturday night out this weekend.

JSL needs a run in the team with a good service, as any striker does..

Who of us thought we’d win a European trophy when Glasner was announced as manager…

We're 2 different teams with and without Sarr. He'd be a massive loss. Yet again, late summer bids for our key players throws our start to a season into disarray.

That being said, everyone should have been concerned about our lack of preparedness and quality in the final third from preseason.

Maybe it's me, but I want to see more from Wharton. Asking a lot perhaps, but I would have wanted him to make a really fast start to prove he should have gone to the WC and he is worth £100m.
He's just come back from a knock like half of our team has somehow. It's always us.

Wharton is a brilliant passer. His pass to Nketiah would have resulted in a goal for any competent striker. However, Wharton doesn’t have the athleticism to consistently be successful in a midfield two. In a midfield three where he had time he would be lethal.

I thought we'd win the league.

It’s an old adage but so very true miss your chances in the top division, and you will lose. Having said that ,how often do we beat Everton up there? Losing is not an unusual result for this game . Shame it’s so predictable ,Palace, miss chances and can’t beat Everton.

This is all on Parish - he dilly’s and dally’s in transfer windows.

We lost Guehi 6 months ago and Lacroix 2 weeks ago - you cannot lose players of that quality and not replace them.

That’s why I’ve been saying all window long we need two quality centre backs.

Combination of Canvot, Richards and Riad ain’t going to cut it as today and pre-season proved.

What has Parish done bought in Desasi on loan - even that he couldn’t do in time for him to play today.

We were in for Matsima - faffed around to the point Augsburg walked away from negotiations.

Diomande went to Forest for £30M - we did nothing to get him.

We were in for Kossounou - went no further.

Le Guen - what’s happened there - player agreed to join us.

At this level you cannot conduct business like this and not expect the consequences - it’s that simple.

Parish never learns - everything is done too late.

I feel for Sage - no doubt he was promised funding in the window but again Parish has been too slow.

I said on another thread - with Desasi coming in and then if we get Le Guen and Danois would be a good window.

But the point is even if we do that it was as usual done too late - upshot you get days like this.

What’s Sage supposed to do - he can only play the players available to him..!!

Once again we’re going to have another slow start whilst everything and everyone settles down - and that’s all due to Parish.
No It ain't. Such a tedious and ignorant rant. Go support a team that has limitless funds at their fingertips.

FDB tried to play a new system that didn't work. Sage is trying to play an existing system that doesn't work.

Not the same at all.

All jokes aside, I'm not ready to judge him.
I believe quite a few have already formed a judgement even before today's defeat.
The narrative I have heard is that Sage's career has seen him as a Youth Coach, a scout, an Assistant manager and that his First Team management is limited in terms of longevity. Someone opined that one stand-out season in France does not prepare one for the demands of the PL.
Some others were critical of the club in terms of recruitment etc and that the challenge Sage faces is somewhat gargantuan.

I don't know enough either way. He could be garbage, too soon to tell though.
