Everton vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Oh sorry should we have gone out and won 5-0 its his first lge game with almost all the players back , for f*** sake whats a matter with people on here , so small minded , we lost after we missed chances christ some people , tell me what was you expecting
Oh sorry oracle the wise. I forgot we are not allowed to be pissed off for selling players, not being able to make a pass to a team mate, that at least 3 of the senior members of the team want out. I’m sorry that it’s wrong to expect a coherent formation to be put out by somebody paid millions to do just that… with what he has at his disposal. I’m also sorry for using a fan forum to vent that I’m pissed off with the team I support losing. Apologies if I offended you with my bed wetting.

Thank you glad you knew you was in the wrong 👍🏻

I think Den is being sarcastic ,

Ironically reading the prediction thread most were expecting exactly what happened

Somehow that makes it even more annoying!

I don't think Sage copying Glasnerball to the letter is going to work - he needs to get his own plan implemented (fast) and be judged on that basis

Bad start
Yes, trying to get players, albeit not many first-teamers, to play one system for a few weeks and then change to a system that you would rather not play hardly seems a recipe for success

Funny how every season I hope for something different.

An incomplete squad with question marks over players leaving, a lack of footballing identity, sloppy play leading to missed chances, generally off the pace in every way, and losing to Everton. It’s the full bingo card many could and did indeed predict. Sigh.

Here we go again, So Palace!

Why are we always so unprepared for the start of the season? If we were sharper we'd have easily beaten Everton but we're miles off it and putting ourselves under pressure.

Our transfer business has been a joke, we should have players with the guile to buy fouls like our opponents, players who can create chances and players who can command the area - we have nothing and we look lost at the moment!!

Geussand, Tomiyasu, Mingeuza, McNeil, Khalaili and an unproven kid in Gozo don't feel like progress to me but at least the balance sheet looks good 😡😡

We look bound to lose Sarr, possibly Wharton and Mateta and it's not time for full on bed-wetting yet (Hull and Ipswich are in the top four, f.f.s.) but just totally f@cked off with amateur hour!

After one game 😫
To be clear I didn’t mean it will pan out like that and we do need to give him time (unless we really lose the plot). More that training the team in a set of tactics and then revering to a system that didn’t work very well last year has echoes of FDB.

All a bit FDB isn’t it?
But I guess it can't be considered a new system. That was just a continuation of Glasner with worse players. I'm coming down on blaming the board for the defence and Sarr. All last season I called for Sarr to have his contract renewed; it's on nearly every end of season match thread. We would have been f***ed without him. Surely any sane person can see that? He was our only goal danger for about four months.

This is all on Parish - he dilly’s and dally’s in transfer windows.

We lost Guehi 6 months ago and Lacroix 2 weeks ago - you cannot lose players of that quality and not replace them.

That’s why I’ve been saying all window long we need two quality centre backs.

Combination of Canvot, Richards and Riad ain’t going to cut it as today and pre-season proved.

What has Parish done bought in Desasi on loan - even that he couldn’t do in time for him to play today.

We were in for Matsima - faffed around to the point Augsburg walked away from negotiations.

Diomande went to Forest for £30M - we did nothing to get him.

We were in for Kossounou - went no further.

Le Guen - what’s happened there - player agreed to join us.

At this level you cannot conduct business like this and not expect the consequences - it’s that simple.

Parish never learns - everything is done too late.

I feel for Sage - no doubt he was promised funding in the window but again Parish has been too slow.

I said on another thread - with Desasi coming in and then if we get Le Guen and Danois would be a good window.

But the point is even if we do that it was as usual done too late - upshot you get days like this.

What’s Sage supposed to do - he can only play the players available to him..!!

Once again we’re going to have another slow start whilst everything and everyone settles down - and that’s all due to Parish.
Parish's fault? Jesus Christ you're fickle 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hopefully it will settle down, but at the moment there is too much uncertainty around the club.

For example, a new manager, and one who spent a lot of the pre season working with young players who won't even be anywhere near part of his squad.

Senior players returning late to training.

Uncertainty around the future of too many key players.

Players new to teammates, the league and country brought in with little time to acclamatise.

A quiet team with a noticeable (at present) lack of leaders.

I anticipate an unsettled period ( and mixed results) until a week or two after the transfer window has closed.

Club hasn't exactly bought decent replacements for who we've lost. We've bought some youngsters who might work out. A long with a couple who perhaps should, but it's no guarantee. We didn't have to gamble on this season. If we were selling Lacroix, we could have bought someone in. But we f***ed that up and pretended Tomiyasu was fine. He played a few games in Holland last season. And a couple of years ago, he was ok as a right back. A bit like Holding was.

We're 2 different teams with and without Sarr. He'd be a massive loss. Yet again, late summer bids for our key players throws our start to a season into disarray.

That being said, everyone should have been concerned about our lack of preparedness and quality in the final third from preseason.

Maybe it's me, but I want to see more from Wharton. Asking a lot perhaps, but I would have wanted him to make a really fast start to prove he should have gone to the WC and he is worth £100m.
