Prof Jason Arday

It doesn't surprise me at all.

Very few people see themselves as actual bad people and for many people the lens by which they see and judge themselves is though how others see them.

I've always viewed it as a bit pathetic in males and a sign of poor male role models in an upbringing but it is what it is.

When the tables turn some can't take it.....What happened here has happened many times....Especially with people in 'image' or celebrity roles, some weren't mentally very strong to begin with.....People have even been accused of stuff that they were innocent of and decided to check out because they couldn't stand the feedback. Some can't cope with negativity towards themselves, even when it's because they have created negativity for others. They can't square it....for example, suicides in new prisoners is a known risk.

Arday had achieved much for himself amongst senior academics looking to tick progressive boxes to satisfy their echo chambers. He was there to feed ideological purposes.

When the real world came knocking and demanded accountability, he couldn't cope.
I will wait for the inquest before commenting.

He really needed a voice of reason in his darkest hours. It would've all blown over within 5 months. A year or two down the line he could release a book or set up a podcast explaining his side of the story, he could've even took the "how I fooled the most prestigious university in England" angle. Paid back the university students and net himself a tidy profit. His story was most certainly not over. So sad its come to this.

That would have meant becoming an enemy of the people he viewed himself a part of.

He would have made money from his book that's certain, and I think Cambridge would have taken the fiscal hit from suing rather than him.

He most certainly could have made a new start.....but it's a helluva fall from grace and he wasn't up to it.

Black man dead in south London

If it wasn't another stabbing, there's a slight positive

Well seeing how easily they were willing to throw him under the bus, a decent adviser would make him aware of that fact. f*** them. He would've made far more money than he ever did before and he was on ALOT! Not out of the realms of possibilities a movie would've been made about it all. That sort of story would be a Hollywood hit I reckon. The british public outroar ALWAYS blows over. Always.

He needed light shown in his darkest hour and it appears he wasn't given that. May he rest in peace.

Interesting. Sounds like a plausible explanation.
Not sure why it would only be pathetic in males, though. Personally, I'd see it as weak character in anyone over 30, male or female.

There is always the possible unknown factor. Perhaps, he had debts and losing his uni job + possible legal cases meant he was in serious financial trouble.

It's my personal perspective as I don't see males and females as being built the same mentally.

Don't get me wrong, we know that there is crossover and some women are mentally very strong and some men mentally weak.

But as a standard I expect men to cope with negativity better.

Life is hard, has always been hard and some won't cope well. If you're lucky your upbringing and personally help you to succeed or at least to make a go of it.

I mean the focus here is on Arday but he was a chancer pushing his luck in a system ripe for exploitation..I see Arday within that context....it's a shame he checked out, however this kind of thing is far more common than many think.

Many people get treated harshly and unfairly by life even when they have done all the right things. We all know people like that....other than their immediate family most people just move on....it's sad because life was never fair.

However, Arday choose to deceive and exploit and we know that Arday loved being a poster boy for an ideology. So neither the left nor right will move on as quickly.

The cause of death is one matter. Now fill out your bingo card as this gets widely reported.

Both left and right live in their own media spaces and rarely read what the other thinks......I suppose the left on Hol are kind of a minority in that respect as they get it full in the face over here and see what we think.

But that's rare....I know I don't spend my time concerning myself with what the fruitcakes on the left think.

The perspectives on this will be radically different in both echo chambers.

An unstable personality. People like this need help not encouragement.

I hope the idiots who elevated him are happy now.

Indeed. The speed at which his promoters and advocates distanced themselves was profound, keenly trying to save themselves against the cancellation society that they promoted and created. Such nice people these ideologists, they have no strength of character when the shoe is on the other foot.

Jason Arday's fate is in some ways similar to that of John Savage in Brave New World.
The book of course is still proving to be prophetic.

In the end he died as he lived immoral and cowardly. RIP
It takes more courage to end your own life than many of us have in us.

Any healthy young person driven by whatever reason to suicide is a loss

Whatever this guy did a system allowed him to do it and it seems that that system simply dropped him like a hot spud once they looked bad.

We see this all the time in society, I do a lot of work with ex military, veterans who have served given their lives and just chucked out and ignored. Society lacks responsibility as it has lost accountability

I quite simply disagree with you there.
