Prof Jason Arday

Yep clearly the media hasn't learnt anything from the Caroline Flack suicide. When your articles are reaching an audience of millions you really need to be careful about the potential consequences. I don't remember anyone getting punished amid the fallout of Flack's suicide either. It seems they have free reign to do whatever they please with zero consequences if something like this happens.

Such an obvious suicide risk.

I must confess to not seeing this coming in the slightest. Had the fella down as some kind of grifter who pushed and pushed his luck and was given the red-carpet treatment by those Soc.Lib morons desperate to fall over themselves in beliveing him.

Had hopes he was going to come out and play it all as some jolly jape by way of humiliating the patronising whiteys, and go on to be a constant thorn in the side of the left. As I stated, always had a fondness for a chancer.

But clearly naivety on my part.

I am sure the fallout from this is going to get very, very messy with both sides in the wider culture war blaming the other but the reality is that nobody is going to come out of this with anything than a sense of shame on one level or the other.

This man should never have been promoted to the position he held. And those of us who took so much pleasure in his exposure cannot honestly say that we did not play, albeit a much more minor, a part in this terrible conclusion.

Yep. Not seen the press go at someone like that for a while.

The journalists who exposed him as a fraud were actually doing what journalists are meant to do. This is not the media's fault.

Caroline Flack had committed a pretty serious assault. Domestic violence. Her suicide was clearly a tragedy but again, the media were doing what they are there to do.

The higher criticism was for those who enabled him by not doing their jobs. They gave him a huge position that he didn't deserve, and the fall and ridicule was too much for him.

It's surprising that no one was looking over him. He could have made a new start somewhere else, but when you have had a taste of ribeye steak, some can't go back to McDonald's.

True, but if I remember correctly the guy didn't want the prosecution.

There's an aspect of modern law where the Police take that out of the victim's hands, which I've never agreed with unless there has been coercion.....which can happen but is rarer when it's the guy being forced into a legal action.

Too much state interference into relationships can be a thing.....Some people are fecked up and it can just make it worse.

There’s a balance between good journalism (which this undoubtedly was) and harassment. It was relentless.

True, but it shouldn't be forgotten that Arday himself was quite happy himself going after people.

He put himself into this position and he robbed others of jobs knowingly.....He just couldn't cope with the negative consequences when it turned on him.

Someone should have been watching over him.

I think Jason Arday is a wonderful example of the Walter Mitty character of the Left in general.

He took advantage of what the progressive take over has created in the institutions....which is currently damaging them.

He is unlikely to be the only one.....I suspect that there are plenty of progressives with high end jobs in the universities who aren't there on merit.

Hell, progressives or not progressives, there needs to be a reset all through the system.

These jobs should only go to the brightest in their fields.

And some degrees shouldn't be at universities.....I love the Beatles, but it shouldn't be a university degree course. It makes a mockery of the system.....it's a money making scam aimed at rich foreign students.

He was clearly, an unstable fantasist with a flimsy grip on consensus reality who was seized upon and exploited by a number of academic institutions to wear the mantle of progressive diversity in a triumph of virtue-signalling. Clearly way out of his depth - which seemed to be about the level of a school PE Teacher.

What a tawdry, pathetic tale and what a poor, flawed individual. He should have been watched over by so many during the very week that his (1,4 million?) blockbuster biography was released.

Like probably most people, I didn't see his death as a likely outcome. I thought it more likely he'd be taken under the wing of an agent or publicist, and to use the media coverage to make a large amount of money.
A bad day for leftists and their ethnic quotas.

And yet, there's still a tiny part of me wondering if this is just another scam, and will he somehow be ressurected to perform more miracles.

Shame. I thought he'd ride this out with aplomb.

** And no-one ever thought Sociology was a real subject, let alone something you could be a professor at.

Other than being accused of plaguerism, why is this news? He may have topped himself because of the shame, but this incessant news coverage claiming racism etc is absurd. Sorry he's dead but you don't take your own life without a reason. Wokism gone mad

An unstable personality. People like this need help not encouragement.

I hope the idiots who elevated him are happy now.

Yep, when you consider the amount of front it took to carry off this charade in the first place, it seems surprising that being exposed appears to have hit him so hard.

He really needed a voice of reason in his darkest hours. It would've all blown over within 5 months. A year or two down the line he could release a book or set up a podcast explaining his side of the story, he could've even took the "how I fooled the most prestigious university in England" angle. Paid back the university students and net himself a tidy profit. His story was most certainly not over. So sad its come to this.

It doesn't surprise me at all.

Very few people see themselves as actual bad people and for many people the lens by which they see and judge themselves is though how others see them.

I've always viewed it as a bit pathetic in males and a sign of poor male role models in an upbringing but it is what it is.

When the tables turn some can't take it.....What happened here has happened many times....Especially with people in 'image' or celebrity roles, some weren't mentally very strong to begin with.....People have even been accused of stuff that they were innocent of and decided to check out because they couldn't stand the feedback. Some can't cope with negativity towards themselves, even when it's because they have created negativity for others. They can't square it....for example, suicides in new prisoners is a known risk.

Arday had achieved much for himself amongst senior academics looking to tick progressive boxes to satisfy their echo chambers. He was there to feed ideological purposes.

When the real world came knocking and demanded accountability, he couldn't cope.
