Kamada

Oh for a McArthur.
What would he be worth these days?
A genuine all round midfielder.
He could play in a 2 3 or 4 man midfield.
He could sit in a deep lying role or in the advanced role.
Under Roy he also took wide midfield roles.
De Boer acclaimed him as the best finisher at the club and Pardew said if you had a team of '11 McArthurs' you wouldn't go far wrong.
Warnock acclaimed him as one of his best ever signings.

It's a sad indictment of the modern game that midfield players are pigeon-holed e.g 'he can only play as a number 6.'

One of my favourite teams to watch at present is PSG.
When the team defends the midfielders defend, when the teams attack the midfielders attack.
It's that fluidity which makes them so good to watch.

My view hasn't ever changed on Kamada. He's a good technical player who keeps the ball ticking over, but hasn't contributed anywhere near enough. When he leaves, I think he'll be quickly forgotten. It's a shame, as performances like last Thursday show he could have done so much more.
Agree, He's a top earner that hasn't done enough in his 2 seasons, SP right decision not to offer new contract.

How good is Kamada?
There's much debate on here , but market forces will help in determining.
Will end up at a Bayern Munich, a Lyon or a Saudi club?
He wont end up at Bayern Munich.

But would expect him to end up at one of the 2nd tier clubs Milan, Juve, Roma, Leverkusen, Dortmund etc

Likely one of that type of club that gets a Europa place.

you've mentioned this before and i feel it is not 100% true.

Yes when we defend we have two No6's but when we attack we have more freedom as they know they have an extra defender behind.

As per any midfield two one has licence to go forward when we attack. I'd say their position is a combined 6 and 8 (clearly not a 10) .

Others in that position for other teams who sit in front of 2 CBS usually score a couple a season.

Our four haven't scored one between them - this is a damning stat
I agree it is a damning stat and they should have scored at least a couple a season each (all have had good chances) but I don’t think they exactly have a license to go forward. I think it is mainly our system, they aren’t encouraged to shoot from range or run past the forwards, but when they have had chances their finishing has been woeful.

Appreciate the debate. Just as a bit of fun, if I was to rate them out of 10 on the six key FIFA attributes, it would look a little something like this:

SPEED - Kamada 7, Hughes 5
SHOOTING - Kamada 5, Hughes 4
TACKLING - Kamada 3, Hughes 7
PASSING - Kamada 6, Hughes 6
DRIBBLING - Kamada 6, Hughes 5
PHYSICALITY - Kamada 3, Hughes 7

Kamada -30.
Hughes - 34.

Your probably not far wrong there, especially as you've ended up giving Kamada 30/60. Sounds about right.

It's not about wages but the overall cost of the player. As a free transfer he will have got a signing-on fee that was then added to his wages to make up the £100k a week. He will have cost us £10m come the end of his contract in June considerably less than has been spent on Nketiah and Johnson and Pino etc. I don't rave over him as he has had a number of poor performances but not as many as some like to think. Part of his skillset is knowing how to block the channels, something he does well but it's not often recognized by fans.

I was one of the 27% who voted him player of the match last night as along with Wharton I thought he bossed the game in the first half and he made crucial contributions to our 2nd and 3rd goals.

Given how much PL players cost I think we've had our money's worth out of him.
You haven't factored in sell-on value. Kamada will provide nothing. We'd obviously lose a packet on Nketiah and Johnson but they wouldn't go for free. If Pino has a decent WC he could be worth more than what we paid for him given his age

When Kamada moves on it will be his third 'free' transfer in a row.
He is the very epitome of the footballing mercenary, but I don't say this in a disparaging way.

In many ways I'm surprised more footballers don't operate in this manner.
It gives them the opportunity to obtain massive signing on fees that they would otherwise be unlikely to obtain and also high wages over the course of short term contracts.

Guehi almost pulled it off too, but in a fit of conscience (or some other reason) had the grace to leave early to at least allow Palace to gain a small portion of his value.

The boot is on the other foot too as Palace took Lerma on a free from Bournemouth after he had impressed there and won their award for player of the season.

There is still the possibility he will stay. He's not thrown his toys out of the pram and he's getting regular football. We made him an offer and it could be that he will accept it.

He had an unhappy time in Italy so with a new manager to come in I don't blame him for saying he wants to leave. He's in a strong position, if he doesn't like the look of the new manager he's off as he said he would be. On the other hand if it's someone who tells him stay, you will be in my team he can as he hasn't reacted publicly so he can change his mind and the fans will accept that.

He holds the cards.

That's the point I'm making - he holds the cards, as do all players who refuse to sign new contracts which have been offered to them.

You forgot goalscoring…..Kamada 2 Hughes 1 💩

Think its time on Kamada he has done ok , think we can get someone younger or better in that position and if Doucoure does come back firing we already have one , but wouldn't count on him returning
