Crystal Palace vs. Wolverhampton match thread

I suspect any positive comments here are borne from relief at collecting 3 fortuitous points - had the penalty gone in it would have been the same second half story for a piss poor side totally lacking all over the pitch. But... Hendo saved it, and we squeaked past the side with the worst record in the league, an achievement that will be the springboard to a return to the kind of form that saw us very briefly in 3rd place. Or not as the case may be.

naaa just some spotty kid who thinks changing terminology changes everything , so if If I ask you to explain it would you say defending deeper to create a block as a unit , or do they have new words for that
Sorry, you've lost me. We're literally talking about two different ways to explain the same thing. I'm not sure what the issue is...🙂

they did come from 2 down to arsenal last week give them some credit win as a team lose as a team

We got away with it today as we did in the Brighton win. We played two poor teams and managed to win them both. The saved penalty today saved us thankfully. No one played that well with some players, Richard’s being the main one better than the rest. Wharton and Pino being the worst two for us I would say. Substitutions helped as did stopping the long throws. Nothing positive about the team performance other than the 3 points gained. Hopefully we get the win on Thursday. Let’s hope Glasner starts our goal scorer and we have more confidence and team play which was missing today?

no its not you its I get annoyed at terminology being changed because they have come up with new words to make it sound like its brand new issue , let face it do you think kids would understand low block without telling them its defending deeper😍 you shout defend deeper they will drop back you say low block kids will think thats tackling lower , teach kids easy to understand terms that there parents would have said and there parents parents would have 👍 its simple split in 3 defend hold attack old git like me would understand that 🤣

Have we got nobody in the team who can dribble past an opponent, or is it 'verboten' by Glasner?
The only time one of players went by an opponent today was when the unlikely Mitchell skipped past somebody.
Glasner might think we've been 'spoilt' by having Zaha, Eze and Olise, but these days it's often the only way to beat a packed defence.
Either this or quick pass and move which we rarely do as we roll it either backwards or across our defensive half.
Wharton is out of form, but nonetheless he seems the only player prepared to try forward passes.

That’s not really fair. He wanted OG gone from his first Day and clearly was one of only a few who read his MO. Said he was a one trick pony which is proven to be correct. Maybe we wouldn’t have won the cup but we wouldn’t have known any different would we. I’m sure the poster is pleased we won like all of us and wants the best as all us fans do. Of all the posters willo I’m surprised at you 🤔
With respect, my comment had no connection with the result at all, it was just a jolly josh on account of the poster's well documented and consistent messaging about our manager in response to a post stating that Parish wanted Glasner to continue in his post.
I was certainly not deriding our honourable and estimable member in any shape or form.

Speakng of old coaching jargon does anybody recall Charles Hughes and POMO ( position of maximum opportunity)?
As an old geezer I believe it still has it's place in the modern game.

60 years watching CP Enormous respect for HF who put spirit back into the club but anti Glasner comments are not the way forward We have never been a club chanting you are getting sacked in the morning We have more class than that The way forward to survival is getting behind Glasner and making him feel respected for all he has done for us
Welcome Mateta back forgive and resurrect the Palace spirit of support for all that got us last years success and start rebuilding for next season

Maybe Guiessand temporarily, it is very clear one on one we don't have the ability that Ebs had anywhere

Dreadful game, poor quality oozing all over the pitch from both teams.

The positives, we won, Guessand looks ok and Canvot had probably his best game since joining. Well done Hendo for keeping us in it.

The negatives? Too many to list here in terms of certain individual performances so I’m not even going to bother trying.

We need to hit 39/40 points as soon as possible and get this season out of the way.

I thought we played well in the game against Burnley only to be punished for some defensive mistakes. This was probably our worst performance of the season and yet we came away with 3 points. Plenty of our team were way off the pace and the ones that struggled are mainly the ones that played midweek. Thought Kamada made a difference but there was a time he was trying to past forward but going by his gestures it looked like there was no one in a position to receive a pass. That was what prompted the substitution of Riad for Guessand which coincided with some improvement. It was still a shock when we actually scored though!!

It wasn’t a toxic atmosphere today, I felt the players were well supported whereas it was made clear to Glasner that’s he off the Xmas card list of many. I might have imagined this but certainly my perception that for the last 20 minutes, the players were listening more to the crowd than the bench. The long throws stopped (to cheers), the passing backwards definitely reduced and there more balls put into the box. A much needed 3 points. You could see what it meant to Hughes when he came on the pitch afterwards but not sure Wharton wants to be with us - he just looks like he’s sulking the whole time.
Wharton celebrated the goal properly. Watch the highlights. Hes loving it
