Crystal Palace vs. Wolverhampton match thread

Just home from game and that has to go down as our most undeserved 3 points of all time.
We will take it and be happy that the ref who was dreadful was for once doing us a favour.

The Wolves player that got sent off wasn’t even aware that the ball had gone out for the throw before he booted it upfield, so to get a second yellow for that was a ridiculous decision.
Yes it went in our favour but the level of refereeing these days is awful.

With regard to the game, we lacked energy, enthusiasm and leadership or a plan. The crowd did their best to get behind the team and only started to turn with about 10min to go, and that was aimed at OG with various “humble” songs.

At the final whistle OG did head towards the tunnel and to me looked like he was clapping in a way that was saying goodbye. (We can only hope) and again was serenaded with boos and disgruntled chants.

We all need to be put out of our misery including OG and see him depart to allow us to reset and try to save the rest of the season.

I thought it was a bit harsh. Especially as the ref let Hughes off the hook for a few tackles which I thought should have been second yellows.

But you know...they go for you some weeks and then others it goes against.

The glasner clapping and waving at the end of the game it kinda felt like he was saying goodbye. And I guess leaving on a win if he was to go would be fitting.

our make shift back 3 ok ish thought Canvot played well has show some composer on the ball always moving he is young lots to learn in that position . Riad is along way off still needs another 3 weeks of playing you could see that . Richards done well leading , was always 2nd or 3rd choose with the others that was his usual foil .
midfield still a issue hughes tried to hard but thats him , Wharton still below par but he doesnt have that outlet when he was hot ,
Larsen didnt stop chasing , Sarr hit and miss , Pino mmmm but in a different system or with a Eze , Zaha or Olise around him may see him in a different light ,
loved the songs at the end first class ,

I think it is obvious what Glasner meant with his 'humble' remark. Some Palace fans forget that we are a club of modest means and an even more modest history of success. Holding up banners smacks of self importance.
If Glasner departs, it should only be about results or our desire to get a new man in before next season.

I see an advantage in terms of preparation but securing the right candidate before the Summer could prove difficult. We don't want someone just because they are currently available. We are still in the Conference and we need 3 more points in the league. This might be the time for everyone to just stay calm and carry on.

It wasn’t a toxic atmosphere today, I felt the players were well supported whereas it was made clear to Glasner that’s he off the Xmas card list of many. I might have imagined this but certainly my perception that for the last 20 minutes, the players were listening more to the crowd than the bench. The long throws stopped (to cheers), the passing backwards definitely reduced and there more balls put into the box. A much needed 3 points. You could see what it meant to Hughes when he came on the pitch afterwards but not sure Wharton wants to be with us - he just looks like he’s sulking the whole time.

He’s played poorly the last few weeks. Mind you he’s far from alone in that

Really was not impressed with banners 3 mins into the game.
The irony being that they called the board inept.
The same board that allowed them to relocate long-standing season ticket holders so they can get on tv behind the goal.
The same board that gives them preferential ticket allocations, and the same board that allows them to bring in banners.

Good points. Had the fans not encouraged the forward play, crosses and short throw ins I doubt we would have won. It was pointed out to me that Glasner was signalling to the players to slow it down rather than playing it forwards where it might be lost. Maybe he didn’t want us to lose at any cost.
Hopefully this will calm the the players for Thursday and we get a better game.

That's true, but it' s not up to him to remind them. Every highly paid manager would do well to avoid conflicts with fans, regardless whether he is right or wrong. It leads nowhere, and ultimately the fans are the paying customers who also pay his salary, in many cases with money that they probably earn more hard than he does. He should seek advice on public appearances. Even if he is pi$$ed off and perhaps right, he needs to be able to control himself and say a few meaningless words, as politicians do. That's part of his job.

Ye didn't particularly like that.

Much rather when voices do the talking. It was powerful enough to change our tactics with throw ins LOL.

Extremely grateful for the 3pts, despite the fortunate nature of how we got there! The result papers over a lot of cracks but unlike the Brighton game we must now follow it up with another home win.

That's fair comment.

He is just too honest. Not always the best policy when dealing with people who are easily offended, or looking to be offended, like The,😆, 'Holmesdale Ultras'.
Glasner is obviously not a diplomat by nature. When the team is playing badly, it's probably best to be more conciliatory.

The one before costing the club 50 grand

And didint the club just get a 50k fine for a banner held at the Forrest game by them?

As stated by most, a bit of a painful watch and the only real positive is that we grabbed three points. Safety looks just about assured now, which is a relief. West Ham have had their little purple patch and are now the likely third relegation place.

As for the game, I thought the young, make-shift back three did okay. Couple of dicey moments, but for those three to keep a clean sheet in a premier league fixture, whoever it is, is promising. Obviously we need to reinforce over summer, but it's promising.

Love Hughes, but he was a bit gung-ho in that first half. But hey, at least he's not afraid to smash into people and get some energy going. Exactly what we needed. Thought Kamada came on and did okay after that, without being spectacular.

Other than that, pretty boring affair. We really need a way to score against teams weaker than us.

Come on! Penalty save, red card, last minute winner, HFs having a go at glasner and the board. It had it all today! 😄

Agreed, I also don’t think it makes sense when he has criticised the club for lack of ambition.

I think Glasner has misunderstood most fan’s frustration, wilfully or otherwise, it is not about being 14th, 15th - we sing a song about not being much above that. It is the form and that has coincided with him wanting to leave and then him lashing out at the club. He had our sympathy at Christmas.

He had our heart last Christmas, but the very next day he gave it away
