Crystal Palace vs. Wolverhampton match thread

Positives :
The much needed win of course ! The 10 point gap to W.Ham. Oh joy Oh rapture !

Negatives :
Slow ponderous build up.
Corners hitting the first man.
Wolves winning first contacts at throw-ins.
No threat from wing-backs - Of course Mitchell provided the assist for the goal.
Disappointing performance from Pino. Canvot displayed his inexperience at this level.

When Wolves were reduced to 10 men I had NO confidence that we would score as I expected their 'Low Block' and we have had issues creating chances when the opposition adopt this tactic.
In general, a laboured performance but we found a way to win the game.

We are birds on the same twig on this summary.

After the miserable run we've been on we're one point behind Newcastle (and Sunderland) and six ahead of Tottenham. God knows how but maybe things aren't as bad after all.

Agreed, I also don’t think it makes sense when he has criticised the club for lack of ambition.

I think Glasner has misunderstood most fan’s frustration, wilfully or otherwise, it is not about being 14th, 15th - we sing a song about not being much above that. It is the form and that has coincided with him wanting to leave and then him lashing out at the club. He had our sympathy at Christmas.
In his defence, it must be said that, in my opinion, he is also overwhelmed by his role as the only regular representative to the public. In Austria or Germany, more club representatives have to answer questions from the press. For example, if players fail to meet expectations, the sporting director comes under fire, and if investments are made too late, the club management has to face questions from the press. Ollie also emphasised this once in an interview in Austria, saying that this was completely new to him, that he was practically the only one who had to answer questions for the club on a regular basis. Combined with a press that weighs every word and exploits it, this is certainly not easy for him, especially now that he is under a lot of pressure. But hey, he's had his sunny days here too, and like other managers, he'll survive the rainy ones and learn his lessons. He likes new challenges anyway.

dont fully agree Canvot looked better today than other performances remember he is a kid playing in a senior position , I watch our defence more closely than any other position I played there ,
the low block grrrr is made up term its doesn't exist its called defending deep always as , teams have been doing it for years , all teams struggle unless they have a George Best or Messi who can unlock it , As you can tell I get all excited with certain terms lol

I was not being overly critical of Canvot. I should have added "On occasions" to my comments. I fully appreciate that he is inexperienced, having arrived at our club having only played 18 games for Toulouse in a less demanding league than the PL.

It's called a low block in every coaching course I've done over the last five years...just saying. Terminology evolves.

Riad looked completely out if his depth…how many times did he try to control a ball only to hoof it out of touch ? Thankfully he was taken off.

It was one of the worst Premium League games that I have ever seen.

True but that doesn't mean everyone has to use it. Young people refer to records as "vinyls" which just sounds absurd to me. Maybe "the number 10 position" sounds sexier than inside left. I guess you use the terms you're used to until no one knows what you're on about by which time the number 10 spot will be called an ancillary striker or something and it'll be all change again.

A prominent member on HOL must be weeping into his 'Cerveza'. 🤣 🤣
That’s not really fair. He wanted OG gone from his first Day and clearly was one of only a few who read his MO. Said he was a one trick pony which is proven to be correct. Maybe we wouldn’t have won the cup but we wouldn’t have known any different would we. I’m sure the poster is pleased we won like all of us and wants the best as all us fans do. Of all the posters willo I’m surprised at you 🤔

naaa just some spotty kid who thinks changing terminology changes everything , so if If I ask you to explain it would you say defending deeper to create a block as a unit , or do they have new words for that

How we miss a Wilf in these situations
