The Power in football these days is with the players.

It's difficult to shift those you might want to force out. And it's hard to keep someone against their will.

Ultimately though, the Club that has to navigate its way through the complexities. The current contractual situations with Glasner and Guehi aren't ideal but neither are they anything new. Some on here are quick to point fingers at OG and MG but they are only fulfilling contracts that were agreed with by Palace. They are responsible only to themselves. The ongoing good fortunes for Palace are not their concern.

I'm still raging inside after yesterday.

Nobody emerges from that with any credit.

Just my opinion but our current plight is one of the clubs own making. Which makes things feel worse.

This was written before yesterday.
The result and ensuing press coverage will not have helped Glasner's CV at all. In fact the last six weeks will be making any top club potentially pursuing OG take a much closer look now.

Any club interested in OG will do due diligence.

So although recent results have been disappointing, if I was OG I would be pointing out the mitigating circumstances involved.

No manager is perfect, all make mistakes, the ones that are successful learn from their mistakes and try not to repeat them, is Glasner a man who admits he makes mistakes, if he doesn't he is a very dangerous person to be managing our club, Vieira was like it, systems were more important than anything, well it isn't, you pick the team and tactics from the available players, not vice versa.

Agreed. It occurred to me that, magnificent as it was, the FA Cup win and following Euro competition entry has been a great challenge to a club primarily set up, thus far at least, to avoid relegation and survive in the Premiership. Likely that a number of people overestimated the ability of the club to do well this season.

Exactly, that's fine. I have no problem with that. We need to recognise it and help them go. I don't want the constant uncertainty. We need to give longer contracts and sell with 18 months- 2 years left if they won't sign. It's really all we can do.
This will they, won't they constant noise is crazy and unnecessary. Do or don't, whatever. It's a business.

Giving long contracts, how will that work out? Say for example we gave Edouard and Holding long contracts, Glasner came in didn't want them, then we are left trying to sell them with a guaranteed wage for years and can't sell them. When you sign a player, you don't know how they will perform of fit in.
The best method, would be to give every contract a buyout clause, that we are comfortable with.

Knee[jerk reactions are never good. Especially if you haven't correctly identified the culprit(s).
This was the icing on the top of a cake of recent bad results. I would like to think a resolution is in hand, whether by agreeing new transfer activity, due diligence on new managers, or touting to offload players.
I saw Steve Parish's face on TV in the stands on the final whistle. He looked a tiny bit embarrassed. Probably not much different to any other CP fan.

i don't think we'll see any change in staff immediately, so i think we'll have tp get used to losing a few games before the Summer break.

Big name player syndrome Bobby Charlton was hired by Preston they took years to recover, top player left something to be desired as a manager.

Seems to happening more frequently too but it's a self limiting exercise: A. The opposition knows how you're going to play and B. It limits the way you can counter their plans. Of course any formation suggests how a team expect to play but the good ones can improvise within that framework, we had that extra factor with Eze and presumably Pino was expected to play this role but, so far, hasn't been able to do so.
Celtic learned the hard way that forcing players into roles for which they're not ideal was a mistake and acted quickly to change the manager when he refused to change his approach.
I like Glasner and hopefully with a full squad to pick from he can turn things around.

There’s making mistakes and there’s putting that team out yesterday with that formation and expecting it to work. The standard in that league is so average but we made them look like the best team on the day. An appalling day. And I’ve seen plenty of bad ones. Maybe only being relegated by Charlton is worse.

This time last year at this stage, you're offered, FA cup win, community shield win, through to the next round of a European cup, 5 points from 5th which will likely be a champions league spot, 14 points from 18th. Everyone would have demanded a statue of Glasner.

However, I suspect that the uncertainty over his future is hurting us now. How can the players and potential new signings be expected to buy into the club's future without knowing who the manager will be?

Sorry, but like all employees in business. I don't buy that highly paid professionals shouldn't be able to cope with this situation, especially in football, where managers, team-mates etc. can change every tranfer window, managers even quicker.

You appear to have me confused with somebody else. I don’t want him sacked. I just want better results. We haven’t been competitive all season. We’ve taken 2 points from our last 18 available. That’s not being competitive. Despite that what I really want to see is OG get us back in form and winning again.

If we continue to play this poorly for a further extended period then the sacking conversation heats up but I hope that doesn’t happen.

I also think there is a case for moving on if OG won’t sign a new contract as that would mean he’s leaving at the end of the season anyway but again I’d rather he signed and we had certainty we can build from.

I was a big OG fan but his petulance in interviews and not signing a contract are getting on my nerves, let alone making us look like fools versus Macclesfield. I say get rid now before it's too late and we are dragged down into a relegation battle...

I didn't realise OG had to check with you to sign a contract or not.

For me it’s quite simple. An announcement has to be made by the end of January either he signs a new contract or he announces he is going at the end of the season.
That way the players, fans and club know where we are going.
For me the whole uncertainty is causing the most problems, and Palace have a long history of this.(Zaha,Marc, OG ) just to name a few.

Loose our next two games then big questions arise.
