Glasner Out

You appear to have me confused with somebody else. I don’t want him sacked. I just want better results. We haven’t been competitive all season. We’ve taken 2 points from our last 18 available. That’s not being competitive. Despite that what I really want to see is OG get us back in form and winning again.

If we continue to play this poorly for a further extended period then the sacking conversation heats up but I hope that doesn’t happen.

I also think there is a case for moving on if OG won’t sign a new contract as that would mean he’s leaving at the end of the season anyway but again I’d rather he signed and we had certainty we can build from.
What makes you think your entitled to anything?

I don’t really think I am to be honest. I do think if not entitled we should at least have expect our team to put in a better performance than yesterday. Not sure why that seems to be controversial

Nothings controversial, but yesterday's performance had nothing to do with formation, tactics, etc id put the blame entirely down to the players. Okay he could have picked a stronger 11 but the team he did pick, had more than enough quality.

Yeah I agree with most of this. Whatever the formation we should have had more than enough to win. Players did not step up or show much professionalism. The staring 11 had 7 internationals in it so the players need to take the lion’s share of the blame. I think we should and could have played more aggressive tactics but for me the bigger thing for coaches and the manager to look at is why the mindset was so wrong.

“Oliver Glasner annoys me — his arrogance and tactics wouldn’t wash at United”

That’s the headline from a piece in the Times.
We should all become journalists, money for old rope.

Having read a few of the comments here and suffered the expected barrage of sarcasm from my friends in the pub at lunchtime I wondered if I watched a different game to others yesterday.

Living where I do I haven’t been to Selhurst for years so only watch the TV games and an occasional away game. I do though get to watch a lot of National League football, so I knew what to expect. These guys have learned all the modern tactics. They know how to block, press and not allow time on the ball. They know the dark arts too and are fit and often pretty tough. They know how to fight. What they lack are the skills to overcome these tactics so the games are often not full of skilled flowing football, but battles.

So I knew it would be tougher than some expected as they were bound to be highly motivated. Even with the weakened team we fielded we did have the skills to prevail and even if we weren’t able to show them all the time we created enough chances to win the game, but as so often recently they just missed. They scored one good goal through their only tactic of relying on set pieces and another lucky one through bad bounces and what looked to me to be an offside leg.

The TV commentators said the pitch was good and suited Palace. I disagree. I thought it produced a bounce that we consistently misjudged and a surface that bobbled. I also thought the officials were reacting as though they wanted to be part of history and let some challenges go that would not be allowed in the PL.

I still think that 99 times out of 100 with the team we put out we would have won the game. We were cruising until they scored. We only needed one of the near misses to have gone in. If the offside goal was ruled out and extra time played our fitness level would have shown.

It was just one of those games. Embarrassing. Disappointing. Not a disaster.
