Ashes cricket

Not even surprising.
I wish to apply to be part of the investigative team. No doubt it will entail an arduous first class flight to Australia, where I will visit multiple luxury hotel locations and conduct all necessary interviews at local bars. No matter how long it takes, it's a vocation I am willing to apply myself most rigourously. 😁🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

Look at Jack Leach's county figures and look at Bashir's. Bashir is not even second or even third choice spinner for Somerset. I get the feeling Leach was something like the leading bowler in Div. 1, constantly near the top of the league too.
Same could be said of plenty of positions. Another obvious one would be Foakes. England first need to change their selection policy before anything else.
In my opinion, I'd change some of the squad now. Those who have failed, drop them. If you want to compete it's what you have to do. I'm not sure of selection rules but I'm pretty sure Ashes squads can be changed whenever you like. I could be wrong.

I agree but it's a tricky balance between picking a team to win the next series and selecting players with potential whilst giving them time without thinking any failure will mean getting dropped.
Who'd be a selector?

I love a good pantomime, and this just gets funnier by the day
Oh no it doesn't
oh yes it does 😀

Australia
152 all out (45.2)
England
48-4 (11.4) - in play

Where's my Test career ?
It's behind you !!

This series is doing my head in. Every morning I wake up and spend a few moments trying to process the latest craziness. Three innings in one day wtf. And we always seem to come off worse. I think our players are only fit for T20.
In other news Happy Christmas to all my fellow sufferers. 🙂

I reckon by the final test, we can complete it in a single day, and still be comprehensively beaten, by an innings, and say 200 runs
There are no crumbs of comfort falling from this test series
5-0

This is absolutely appalling. I watched the beginning and the Aussies 3 down. I thought at least England were trying. Then I get this scoreline this morning. Sack this lot. Sack them all. Start again.
Culpability starts at the very top. The ECB just shrug their shoulders, and go into hiding. The ECB should be having a total re-structure. And only when that is complete and functioning, should we look at County cricket and the players

Day 2 - in play

Hilarious situation.

England need 98 runs to win, with 8 wickets remaining. Even as I'm typing, the game could be swinging either way.
Now stopped for tea. This is England's best chance of avoiding the 5-0 thrashing. It's looking like the Aussies have been out on the beers. Real car crash of a sporting event

This is better than 20-20

Looking like the fifth test might be a one-day game. 😀

England win an Australian Ashes Test. The first time in 14 years,
Well done England, and all that
But to me, it feels completely hollow

A bit like sealing relegation before Christmas, but winning the Fair Play award

I suppose there's only one thing to do now,...let's get on the beers 😀

A two day Test match is less BazBall than a Hollywood version of cricket but well done England for scrambling through.
Pleased to see Bethell getting a few - he should have a future.

He would be celebrated every Christmas if his other name was Hem.
