New Manager Planning

Reminds me of someone, and why Uche is at Palace.

I'm hopeful he'll surprise us and stay on next season, but I'm not expecting he will.

His next job will be an interesting follow.. He's done enough here that even with A disastrous next 6 months, he could get a gig at a top club - Though he may prefer a Villa rather than a ManCity, somewhere else to build rather than maintain.
It's an unknown how he'll do. His success thus far has been at smaller clubs, smaller squads punching above their weight. How will he fare - with the Egos, the squad size, the expectation a big club brings. If he get's 'his pick' of transfers, will they be successful? I suspect that he'll do well, but it's far from a certainty, and he may be much more suited to an 'underdog'.

How good a manager is relative, is Roy keeping Palace up with a S**T squad over 4 years better than Glasner winning the FA cup, Ten Fags won the FA cup, does that make him a better manager than Emery, Howe, Dyche etc.

s*** squad ? He had mateta, benteke, buatshuai, eze, zaha and townsend one season and played zaha as a number 9, he didn't have a s*** squad he was just happy to pick up a point at home to teams in the bottom 3, Hodgsons achievements come nowhere near glasners.

I believe this to be true.

My gratitude to Roy is unwavering, he kept us in the league which put us in the position we are in now. He delivered the (arguably minimum) requirement of a Palace manager.

He was unable to take us to any greater heights however. Glasner has.

Glasner was asked about his future during this afternoon's press conference.
As expected he was non committal and said the lack of updates was attributable to the busy schedule.
Interestingly though he did say that discussions had begun 9 months ago in March.
No journalist was bold enough to ask how close the parties were to agreeing or what the sticking points were!

I suspect it's already been said in the thread.

But obviously if he doesn't extend his contract then giving him significant money in January is a bit nuts and should be reserved to a manager committed to the club.

We can't be left high and dry with no money to spend for a new manager.....Glasner, the skipper and Kamara all going at once buggers the club up.

Decisions need making....I accept the rush of games but hopefully a deadline has been chosen and we get action either way.

One further footnote on the press conference where I believe the key to Glasner's mindset was revealed.
It's clear that one or two youngsters will be making their debuts tomorrow and Matt Woosnam suggested how difficult it would be for them and how they would be able to cope.
Glasner tore a strip off him and said the youngsters should be going home and shouting from the rooftops that they had achieved their childhood aim and should be excited about the first team opportunity.
He went on that if this wasn't their mindset , then they were in the wrong career.
I believe this half glass full approach and positivity has been key to the success of the team since he joined as he has managed to infect the players with his 'anything is possible' attitude.

And reminded us all, how fortunate we should all be just to remain in the division.

We need to spend in January, I dont care if glasner is leaving, managers are just coaches these days, they're paid good money to coach, if you can't continue with a squad good enough for the previous manager then you shouldnt be one, especially not at the highest level.
