Villa v Maccabi

Have the Jew haters considered that Jews would be "refugees" who they "welcome" if they were booted out of Israel, which is what they campaign for.

I would certainly welcome 1 million Jews, I can't say the same for Muslims, because the former aren't remotely the troublemakers that the latter are.

jews ? the economy and the business sector would burgeon. Especially new business startups. They are industrious and law-abiding, and pay their taxes. Very Rarely on the dole and have a high IQ.

Many of the UK based Jews have openly criticized Israel and cannot be blamed for a war five thousand miles away.

Looks like Maccabi fans(or certainly a lot of them) are scumbags and deserving of a ban.

I certainly wouldn't want them in my neighborhood.
This is a political decision by antisemite Muslim politicians, not a policing decision.

The trouble in Amsterdam is also going to count against them now.
These are fighting Israeli fans, and anyone who thinks it's sensible and correct to allow them into predominantly Muslim areas for a football match, really need to take a step back and be objective.
Maccabi trouble makers will be looking for a fight and you can bet the Muslim tough guys will be very well prepared, to protect themselves and their property.
We'll have to wait and see what the Birmingham police now think.

🤣🤣 what a shock.

No doubt the gaslighting will continue from our media and politicians regardless, as the usual suspects frantically froth at whatever latest outrage they are fed.

Below are 10+ examples of away fans being banned from European fixtures due to violence or disorder at their previous fixtures. All have happened within the last 5 years, and at precisely none of them was religion or ethnicity ever considered relevant.

The latest ban for Maccabi fans is not remotely unique, or even particularly unusual. Maccabi themselves were banned from another away match in 2022, and no one batted an eye lid.

Just complete manufactured outrage this time round.

Perhaps it wouldn’t have been such an issue if the local Muslim run Council had not got up a petition to ban them? That petition had nothing to do with their “previous” it was about who they were. I look forward to regular banning of away fans whoever they are

No need to look forward, just look at the plethora of examples from the last few years.

What did the petition say?

Yes, aware of the mention of a petition - I’m trying to verify the claim that “That petition had nothing to do with their “previous” it was about who they were”

It’s also unclear to me if the petition had any impact on the decision made by the Safety Advisory Group.
The risk assessment must have come first.

well it would be bad in Birmingham. And imagine how bad it would be if the match were held at neutral territory ? say, Rotherham ? that would be really awful, indeed ?

Nonsense. Here's the petition wording, relevant bit in bold. Also no use of the word jew, you might notice.

"On 6 November, Aston Villa are due to host Maccabi Tel Aviv at Villa Park in Birmingham. We are calling on UEFA, the UK Culture Minister, and the club itself to urgently cancel this fixture or take immediate steps to ensure public safety and community harmony.

This is not a normal football match. It cannot be treated as business as usual.

Why action is needed

Ongoing genocide in Gaza: As Israel continues its assault on Gaza, killing thousands and devastating civilian infrastructure, sporting fixtures involving Israeli teams cannot be separated from the wider political context. Hosting such teams sends a message of normalisation and indifference to mass atrocities.

Track record of violence by Maccabi Tel Aviv fans: The club’s supporters have previously caused serious disruption and violence during matches abroad, including clashes and riots in Amsterdam. Their arrival in Aston - a diverse and predominantly Muslim community - poses a real risk of tensions within the community and disorder.

Wider European context: Across Europe, calls are growing to cut cultural and sporting ties with Israel. Ireland has even warned it will boycott Eurovision if Israel is allowed to participate. Sport cannot be an exception when human rights are at stake.

Our demands

We therefore call on the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to protect local communities and uphold ethical sporting standards by doing one of the following:
- Cancel the match entirely, or
- Relocate the match to a neutral third country, or
- Hold the match behind closed doors with no spectators.

At the very least, we call on the relevant authorities to ensure any Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters that have been seen chanting and causing disorder in Amsterdam are prevented from entering the UK and any that do not come are securely bussed in and out under strict coditions, without the chance to gather and roam in Birmingham.

Add your name to demand decisive action before it’s too late. "
