Ollie must be the priority signing

I really hope and pray that the new players coming in even this late are Ollie’s picks as much as anyone else’s and we have a fantastic season. If we do maybe… just maybe Ollie will stick around a bit longer to continue the project, especially if we can qualify for the Europa via winning the conference or by our league position.

He has been royally pissed off but maybe over the season with a better squad he will forget the late business we did.

Watching him in his interviews and press conferences, he is the real deal. I love the way he says it’s pointless worrying about something he cannot control so move on. I love that attitude. He always speaks such sense.

When you see what’s going on elsewhere, we really are lucky to have him.

I think you have a point. If we could progress deep into at least a couple of the competitions we are in and OG sees the potential to build yet further maybe he will consider staying on. He certainly seems a lot happier now than he did a week ago.

In his presser, he touched on the fact that he didn't realise we would have to qualify for the group stage and that it had added another layer of pressure. Now that we have achieved our two early objectives everybody was feeling alot more positive. Plus he knew that players were in coming

Reality is that in Frankfurt and Wolfsburg he only stayed two years and left because of disputes with management .

Even in the top clubs there’s going to be conflict between what a manager wants and what the CEO feels the club can realistically afford . Steve will be around long after OG leaves and is going to be wary of spending that puts at risk all of the last 15 years of hard work .

Both play to the media and say what they actually think which is rare in public figures now days and they are happy to air their differing view points in public , but the public are so used to the polarisation of public opinion now days that some perceive this as irreconcilable difference of opinions .

You don’t become a manager of an EPL team unless you’re ambitious so obviously OG wants to coach at the highest level , but does that ambition mean he wants to take a mid level team to the top ( which shows he REALLY knows what he’s doing ) or does he want to have the recognition of being appointed as the manager of a top six team .

Maybe he does , but he’s young enough that he can take Palace to the next level , establish a legacy that would be fairly unique and then go the other way .

As palace fans , like Leicester fans , we know the joy of achieving the success that no one expects .

Given that Steve sold OG the job and he bought into it , maybe that’s the vision and aim that OG has .

If Mark Guehi leaves us then I do not see Ollie signing a new deal.
Listening to him, it is as if as long as Guehi stays this season then he signs on the dotted line - if not then he will be off in due course.
No one man can hold the club to ransom but it would be a shame, regardless of the negative financials.

He did not say he would go if Guehi goes. He said he would not be happy if Guehi went without a ready and suitable replacement.

I do not think Igor or Canvot are such men.

Unless we get a high caliber CB in over the coming hours, I guess e.g. Diomande will join in the winter and Guehi will then be off with everyone's blessing.

I’ve become more preoccupied with Guehi staying than the other new ones coming in! I think we just HAVE to keep Ollie happy. It’s as simple as that for me.

He is the best thing to happen to Palace in decades and the owners have to back him. Ollie’s achievements thus far have earned him enough credibility to be fully trusted by the board when giving his opinion/advice - if they don’t follow this advice and back Ollie now it’s unlikely that we will be able to continue on the same trajectory.

BACK HIM!

I can't see him doing that. He needs a team full of stars before he even considers it. Is Man U a team of stars? It's not an exaggeration that we're far ahead of them currently.
I can't see it either but just the idea of the grief it would cause the blue part of Manchester amused me.

They are just that and that is their rub. A disconnected pack of massive egos performing as solo performers.

Pep would cull, add and discipline into a Pep squad playing dull but effective muscle-memory, crab-footy.

The cost of such a transformation would be eye watering. But they are the only club in this land that could afford it.

Totally agree
Another potential f*** up by Parish, who'se still dining off his saving the club, which we're all eternally grateful for, but he needs to start showing more ambition. God knows what's happening to the redevelopment...is this the reason for breaking up a successful team? Whose next in January, Wharton, Munoz, JP, Hendo, Sarr.....

The only significant player who might go in January is Guehi if he were to stay. We don't tend to sell 1st team players in January because we tend to have a thin squad and are usually looking to buy, e.g.:
  • Esse in Jan 2025
  • Munoz and Wharton in Jan/Feb 2024
  • Ahamada in Jan 2023
  • Mateta in Jan 2022 etc.

This is not the time to be talking to Glasner about a new contract.

I don't see him not honouring his present deal, largely because I think he's close to the players and believes they are capable of more success this season.

But I think his relationship with Parish is strained - and when you publicly disagree with the guy paying your wages it usually only ends one way.

Bayer Leverkusen, next manager 😕

We are 'Birds on the same twig' on this matter.
From my humble perspective, the chances of Glasner being in situ until the end of the season are slim.

OG couldn’t of made it clearer to Steve parish about keeping MG
So get ready for Roy Hodgson next season
Surely we’re not that broke cause I would have let him go for free next year As you can see from this window 40m buys average or unheard of players!!
So 35m is crap😡

Such a shame - but can’t help but feel Oli was always going to be too bigger profile for palace. It’s clear that we weren’t ready for the success he’s brought to the club and that we will struggle to match his ambitions.

Absolutely correct.
Furthermore he expressed his displeasure about our lack of transfer activity a few weeks back when interviewed abroad.
I fear we are on the 'Glidepath' to the parting of the ways sooner than expected.
