Ollie must be the priority signing

I cannot predict how this season will pan out. Not well is my general feeling and that might not be relegation because potentially there will be two worse clubs in London. However OG will not be here this time next year. The start of this season is a repeat of the last.He said he didn’t want that. We can analyse as much as we like but he’ll be off at the end of the season if not before.
He did say that and whilst he is clearly frustrated he is also not stupid. He knows why we are in this situation and is just letting of steam. When he says it’s our fault I don’t think Parish is his target but more likely Textor or even possibly Dougie for not getting the ducks in a row.

I wonder if this was the reason Dougie actually left. That Glasner wants to control the transfer policy and for a Director of Football to report to him.

We should be on the cusp of being a top 7 or 8 side with the team we had. Ebs should never have been allowed to leave with 2 years left on his contract. Marc should be offered a substantial rise to keep him now we have the Ebs money. Parish living off his "saviour" status. No f****** ambition. The lowest amount spent on signings in the whole league apparently. We have the best manager we've ever had, not even debatable, who won't hang around if he doesn't get what he was promised. There's players out there to kick start us again who would come to Palace but we'll probably end up getting the cheap option has beens or loans that'll f*** off like Gallagher and Chalobah etc. This is our big chance to move up a level. Pull your fingers out board we're running out of time. The Leicester lad looks mustard and how about a cheeky bid for Wissa?
Perhaps, Parish wants to keep money from player sales for the new stand project rather than spending on a player replacements.

He obviously wants to keep it for something. TBH I'd rather see my club bringing in quality and keep on winning trophies and moving up a level in a proper old ground rather than the soulless new builds of today. Not a Parish fan as you may have gathered. Needs to back Glasner now before he walks.

I think that Glasner has different ideas to the club on transfers. He seems to want experience, whereas we seem to want potential. I have posted before that I don't believe Glasner reports to a Director of Football and he wasn't going to be told anything by Dougie.

Glasner will go at the end of his contract however much Parish backs him as he will be in demand at a bigger club and he is ambitious.

Managers (and chairmen) come and go. I want my club to prosper but I also want them to survive as a club. It is my belief that the PL bubble will burst before too long and that there will be a number of clubs that will be in serious financial trouble when it does given the current size of their debts.

Player fees (and agents') have reached ridiculous proportions in this window. We are better off keeping our powder relatively dry and sticking to our guns of not overpaying for average players.

I think there's room for both.
If Eze and Guehi remain you can afford to go for potential.
If Eze and Guehi depart then experience is more important so players can make the necessary immediate impact.

Read the interview he had with the BBC. It’s on their webpage today. He is leaving. He wants bigger things.
I for one don’t blame him . Why things have gone the way they have is anyone’s guess but there is little doubt OG has been let down badly up to now. There was never any secret as to what OG wanted to happen and not happen, yet here he is scrambling to cover fixtures with a depleted squad when he should have had a small surplus.

I think we all got caught up in the euphoria of winning the cup and the Charity Shield and suddenly w people want us to spend tens of millions as if we can suddenly join the big boys.
We’re a small club with a tired old stadium who have hit a rich vein of talent and a manager good enough to make a decent team out of them. We did that with careful stewardship by a chairman who has a long term plan to secure our status in a stadium worthy of a Premier League club. He’s not going to abandon that for a manager who has no intention of seeing his career out at Palace. We are as much a stepping stone for him as we are for Eze, Guehi, and the rest. Will Hughes is probably the only player in the current squad who would be happy to see out his career at Palace.
Let’s just enjoy the ride and see what this season has in store for us. 12th again? You know the rest of the chant. COYP!

While I admire the careful stewardship of SP we have spent the least of any club in Europe’s top five divisions. Money is tight but not that tight. We can’t get away from the fact that this has been a poorly planned and executed window. The talk of money is a bit of a smokescreen for that. Yes we aren’t going to spend hundreds of millions but having no plan for Eze leaving is just poor running of the club. On the main stand, I’ll believe it when I see it. Until then it’s just talk.

I'm only reading between the lines and I know no more than anyone else on this one but I think its quite telling that the last few weeks of the season (even before the cup final) there was a very positive vibe at the club regarding our management structure and its relationship with the board. There was talk of extending Glasner's contract, OG himself was very open to the possibility. The board (namely Parish) accepted mistakes had been made in the tranfer market last season in terms of how late business was conducted and that coupled with half our first team returning from international duty late and having little rest contributed to a disaster start.
It was agreed this season would be different. While I think we all knew Eze or Guehi (or both) would leave I also dont think anyone would have predicted that it would take this long for them to depart. Now its very possible that Parish has been relying on the Eze money to come in quickly in the summer because he needed it for our own spending but what I believe is the real problem is Textor leaving. Dont get me wrong, I think its a good thing he has gone but this sudden change of tune from Parish (we suddenly dont have any money) would indicate Textor not only sold his shares but he appears to have called in all loans made to the club at the same time. This would explain where our transfer budget has disappeared to and why even after banking £60m from Arsenal we are still currently not rushing off to buy in players.
I would imagine this (if I'm right) will have been explained to Glasner and if so he will realise no one is really at fault for this predicament but... He wants to build on last season's success. He knows that other clubs dont look at circumstances they look at how managers overcome them when seeking a new coach.
He is understandably going to be worried about what damage will be done to his reputation if he is unable to do well this year. Or even keep our heads above water.

I have said before more than once I think he is the best manage Palace have ever had and I'll be gutted if we lose him but right now I'd be happy if he saw out his existing contract. Under the current situation (especially if they sell Guehi) I think he'll walk. Just like he did when Frankfurt broke promises to him.

Just to play devil's advocate it's possible that we have some transfer targets that haven't been broadcast to the media. If we're genuinely interested in a player we can do without West Ham, Everton or Tottenham stepping in when Mr. Romano starts with his scattergun approach to deals.

I’m absolutely sure you are right that we have some targets that aren’t in the public domain. However, we have started the season with a paper thin squad that is worse than the one we finished last season with. Few other EPL club has got themselves in that mess. We’ve spent the least of any club in Europe’s top divisions. So we can have all the targets we want but we have failed to set the squad up properly

Thats very true although most clubs have already spent this summers budget. We're the only ones left that haven't spent hardly anything.

Do they have them in the pound shop?
I remember walking past Poundland in Ilford when they had a closing down sale - everything was 80 p and people were fighting to get in the door. In Barking there was a 99 p shop then someone opened a 98 p shop next door then a 97 p shop next door to that.
Don't know if they sold footballers though.

I think we’ve missed Dougie. By all accounts he was proactive in meeting potential signings and convincing them that Palace was the right choice even though Parish ultimately signed off on the deals. We still have a scouting team but not sure anyone is filling Dougie’s role.

Who is asking for us to spend unrealistic amounts? We have spent 2m. This is less than everyone in the division bar Fulham and 18 of the Championship clubs.

There is a difference between irresponsible spending and giving us a cat's chance in hell of competing on 4 different fronts this season. We've lost Eze now and are a few fatigue related injuries away from a very, very difficult situation.

We only miss Freedman in as much as up to now he has not been replaced. I read that Matt Hobbs is poised to take up the role. He has raised over £250m in player sales during his time at Wolves and is responsible for discovering and developing Cunha, Nunes, Neto, Neves as well many others. He'd be an upgrade on Freedman in my opinion.
It not that we miss the Director of Football. Its that we miss A Director of Football.
