Would our club have the necessaries for a mega-stadium ?

I do wonder whether in 10 years time we might be looking back on the financial decline of the PL with several so-called bigger clubs struggling to make ends meet because of the financial albatross that's their shiny new stadiums. As for us, we may be sighing a big sigh of relief that we settled for a new main stand and an increased capacity at 34,000.

I think it more likely that a European Super league will happen as they chase the money.

In the last rights auction Sky were the only big bidder but they are losing TV customers as pay TV is in decline as a business model. Who is to say the next rights don’t see a significant value decrease and the clubs end up with less in their pocket?

But yes, others have mentioned above the prospect of using a megaStadium for rock concerts and other lucrative fixtures. I have no doubt that our geography would sell-out the venue for any big headline gigs. This is not Coventry with an empty stadium.

you are correct Eagle. But having done the Odyssey to Wembley for Concerts myself, its a right royal pain in the aris. The population of Croydon/Bromley etc.....would surely welcome a short hop to somewhere local. And a short hop home at bedtime. Twickenham is also a pain to get to.

There are no legal barriers now to a breakaway super league as CAS has now ruled on that.

UEFA takes a lot of money from the Champions League which the greedy owners of the big clubs want. If they form a breakaway league they can trouser the lot. The only question in my mind is when not if they do this.

You may have a point about the Championship. I could see a situation where it or part of it and the PL break away from the rest.

Personally I would be happy for Moan United and the like to leave the PL and play Singapore's finest every week. The rest of us can then enjoy football as it was meant to be.

The time line might be about right but you are way off on cost. It cost Spurs £800m to build their stadium. With building costs growing by the day if we got permission to start work tomorrow it would cost a Billion minimum. And thats just the stadium. you cant only build a stadium in the middle of a neglected park and expect it to be a success. The entire area would need improvements/regenerating. That would probably be at least another £100m. Dont expect any help from Sadiq Khan! We'd end up having to find every penny ourselves

I can proudly say I have visited 57 FL grounds up and down the country over the years and have the stubs to prove it. I kept them all for my son. Amongst those are 3 Wembley stubs. One Palace play off final, one Palace FA cup final and one for England's Euro 96 4-1 victory over Netherlands.
I imagine you feel quite superior sitting behind your computer screen making judgements about people you dont know and have never met. Does make you look a bit silly. Especially as I know a bit about this subject whereas posts you have made indicate you do not.
You act all incredulous when saying 'but Tottenham is a 'state of the art' stadia' which is laughable. If Palace were hypothetically to build a 50,000 or 60,000 seat stadium you dont think that would be state of the art?

I was in the away end at Fulham today, next to their louder end.
The stand opposite the riverside stand is smaller that the Arthur, but new.
If we put a new roof and seats in the Arthur, that would do.
Holmesdale is fine .
