World Cup - rubbish teams, rubbish players

I don't watch too much international football but living here in the North of Ireland I've seen their team a little bit.....they really are s***!

Wow, is that a first ?
A total of 5 managers have been relieved of their duties during a 'World Cup' but I am not aware of any being 'Shown the door' after an opening match.
Julen Lopetegui was removed from his post just 2 days before Spain's opening match after accepting the job at Real Madrid without informing the federation.
The 1998 World Cup is the tournament most associated with mid-competition sackings, with at least 3 managers losing their jobs before the event ended.

So many nothing teams the fixtures look like Burnley vs Southampton to me most nights. I.e.: coma inducing rot.
Frankly, international football is rarely as good as decent club football.
I genuinely wonder how Southampton or Burnley would get on if they played the international sides at the world Cup?
They'd definitely get through the groups and I reckon it would take one of the top ten sides to beat them. Just a guess, but always consider club sides play together every week. The football's almost bound to be better. Obviously, Palace would easily win it, but FIFA continue to block our entry.

Remember when Ron Greenwood had six Liverpool players in the team in the 70's for a game against Switzerland (who weren't the giants of world football they've since become) and we drew 0-0.
