Working Class

This is easily resolved as anyone who is hireable and fireable, meaning that you offer your skills for moneteary gain.
Why does it matter? In the UK we've historically been preoccupied with class issues and it's about time we stopped. No one has any influence over the circumstances in which they're born so why should it be the defining characteristic of their whole life?

it also wasn't working class , it was working people.

I consider myself middle class but am definitely a working person, as are millions of others.

If the majority of your weekly/monthly income comes from via your main job surely you are a working person.

If you have a sizeable income from other sources e.g. rental or share income, then you probably are not reliant on your weekly/monthly pay cheque.

When Sunak published his tax return he earned £ millions from his investment portfolio (shares etc) and this dwarfed his PM salary. He would have paid tax via CGT (at 24%) rather than PAYE on these earnings.

Only 1% of the UK pay CGT so i would say if the bulk of your money is not via PAYE (including self employed) then you don't meet Labour's working people definition.

Not saying it's right or wrong, but that's the thinking

But in reality it does define you King Charles destiny was stamped on his bum as he emerged, privilge buys the best schools and usually an unwarranted fat salary working twelve days a year on the board of a ftse 350 firm. People born with iffy parents with no motivation end up dead in an alley. Play reapeat play repeat.Birth plays a defining role.

Surely you realise the ramifications of the proletariat getting delusions of grandeur and forgetting their place? It would result in complete chaos.

And my valet agreed completely as he brushed me down this morning.

Pip pip

That's what I was trying to say but since inheritance tax isn't 100% there isn't a lot we can change except attitudes. Personally I don't care if someone is born into money any more than I do that they have the ability to play football and make millions out of it.
It's just the luck of the draw like being devastatingly handsome. We can't help it.
