It basically says Kamada runs about more, Hughes is better at tackling, and Lerma is in the middle, the most disappointing thing is between all four, Wharton as well, is no goals.

I think Kamada’s purchase has strengthened our presence in the Japanese market, so I’ll resist for now to avoid ruining that.

We may not be playing well as a team but we keep winning and picking up points. How many times have you heard pundits and commentators say that that is the sign of a good team? I am happy just to see the team win but know that if we really do play well we are going to thrash some teams at Selhurst hopefully in the next two matches!

I’ve been saying for a few games now someone’s going to get a good hiding off us soon. We’ll hopefully get a game or two where everything we do ends up in the back of the net rather than missed chances. I’m not sure it’ll come against the French or the two manchesters, but beware, Foolham, the Irish and kups Koupio……possibly 😃

we've often been playing great to get in the final third and then make silly errors - once we cut those out someone will indeed get a damn good thrashing - I think it may soon be time for Nketiah to start and JP to come off the bench, though Eddie is effective when his pace can exploit tired defences, he just looks the sharper of the two atm.

Whatever the merits or de-merits of our performance the fact remains we should have slaughtered a doomed, winless Wolves.

A better guide to our progress will be at Strasbourg and home to a revitalised United on Sunday.

Win them both and I will start to believe we can go better than last season and can adapt to the loss of Eze's goals. One things is for sure, we need more goals from our midfield to compensate for his departure.

The only criticism is that he took a poor first touch that got the ball stuck under his feet a bit too much leading to a delay and failure to set himself. Had that touch been better I think he'd have probably scored.

Mateta is doing just fine.
He misses Eze badly but his general play is excellent, his work rate is incredible and he is still scoring goals.

Sigh. No one has a problem with him, per se. It's a fan forum, so some of the fans are simply discussing his lack of consistency in front of goal. That's allowed, I believe. There have been three-five sitters this year he's missed that have cost us points. Fact. But you're right...his importance to our set-up and his all round game more than earn him the patience of the fanbase.

Without wishing to be awkward, I'm not sure it's a skill that can be coached or that Mateta can necessarily improve upon.
You either have it, or you don't.
Michael Owen was a fabulous one on one finisher at 18 years old, it was instictive.
Mateta will continue to be a good goalscorer, but I don't see him excelling at one on ones with opposing golkeepers.

It's a bit like Wharton with some saying he'll be guaranteed an England start when he gets his shooting boots on.
He's a brilliant passer of the ball, but that doesn't necessarily equate to being a great striker of the ball i.e head down, knee over the ball with the ball struck with pace and power like an arrow.
As others have observed he plays with his head up and tends to drag the ball when shooting.
It's not a criticism, he more than makes up for it with his other attributes.

Looked in the rule book non strikers are allowed to score , just ours dont do it enough ,
Mateta chance good keeping closed the angle well so its more of well done the keeper , he could have done with the ball kicking up a little then he may have had a chance to lobe it .
Clinton was a lazy little sh#t when he played , great if the ball was near 6 yard box , running the only time he done running when he had a runny nose or had the sh#ts , not the first time he has said it about us as well , so your comments have no foundation

Clinton is one of our best ever strikers and a personal favourite of mine, I would have never called him lazy either.He was very good at link up play as well, his only weakness was not having a powerful shot hence lots of his goals were scored in the six yard box which like Jimmy Greaves wasn’t a bad thing either.He is a pundit and is payed to comment on what he sees during a match.

I have posted about this several times. In the system we play, central midfielders are defensive midfielders. One a playmaker, one a holding midfielder. As two DMs when are they ever going to be in a position to score. About the closest they're going to get is from just outside or the edge of the box (ring any bells about our long shots?) or from set pieces. None of them being Eze, I don't really want them shooting from free kicks. It's not in their game. Devenny is probably the best goal threat at shooting from free kicks if you follow Northern Ireland.

Potentially, but in that situation the keeper did all he could do, come out and make himself big.

Pino's ball was so good, a good touch and JP would have been 10 yards clear and would have had a couple of different options.

Instead he took a terrible touch, slowed himself down and then made a bad decision brining the ball on to his right foot (which brought the defender into play). He then would have struggled to go aroud the keeper as the defender was already moving at pace, and chipping would have been difficult as the keeper was so close.

I'm sure Glasner and the team will be working on this type of scenario.

Yes just stuck his leg out and deflected it luckily to one of our players, thought OG was over the top with his ‘great counter press’ comment.

I note there's a bit of criticism creeping in for Mateta on these boards.
Personally I didn't think his chance today was a sitter.
The keeper did well and came out and narrowed the angle.
I've just watched Haaland miss a one on one v Newcastle and £65 million Woltenmade miss a hat trick in the same game.
I recall Nketiah missing a few last season where he has hit the ball straight at the keeper.
The fact is there are not that many clinical finishers around.
The last assured one on one finishers I've seen in our league are Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler, with their so called ice running through their veins.
Kane, Aguero, Henry, Defoe and Haaland all have been great goalscorers, but they still missed their fair share of chances.
Mateta has arguably been our best goalscorer at this level and I think deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Agree, Mateta is a massively important part of our formation and has been an integral part of our success.
Having said that he has missed a number of easier opportunities this year, sometimes by quite big margins - Millwall last minute, Bournemouth similar, Everton miskick, a number of one on ones etc.

His 8 goals this season looks good, but that does include a few of penalties and goals in the charity shield and the conf league qualifier. Take the 3 away from Bournemouth and he has 3 goals in c15 'proper' games this season and one of these was a pen (v Villa).

I think it is fair to say he has missed more this season than he usually would.
