Why did we sell ayew??

Why did we sell ayew??

Pick one:
Because he wasn't very good, wouldn't have played much, we have better players, nearing the end of his career, and we got offered quite a lot of money for him.
I used to criticise Ayew, but then I realised that he was great at holding the ball, winning free kicks and breaking up opposition play. A spoiler. He also possessed some good ball skills.

I have been wrong before, but I suspect that our sale of Ayew and Andersen could be related to the shares that Textor is trying to offload. Obviously, Olise was unavoidable...apparently.
Of course, it could just be that we had to sell in order to buy. In that case, it hasn't gone too well so far.

Ayew was a valued hard working piece in the past but I think people forget the slump he went into last year about mid way through and how lethargic and out of sorts he looked when he did get playing time.

Got a bit better towards season end but not what he had been. A good offer coming in for an aging player who appeared unhappy is something the club just had to jump at. If he's rejuvenated his career, for the years he has left then good for him. I wish him the best but him going is not the reason we are in the situation we are in now.

While selling Ayew in itself is not why we are where we are it does leave us without a forward who can hold the ball up. Apart form Eze we don’t have anyone in our front three who holds the ball, retains possession and links play. Last season we had Olise and Ayew as a great option to do this off the bench. Nketiah has so far not shown he can do this and Mateta hasn’t done it well either. Kamada’s link play and ball retention has been poor and he is regularly so far out of position he can’t influence the game. When selling Ayew and Olise we should have targeted a forward who can hold the ball. We didn’t and that was an error

From what I've seen this season Eze practically gives the ball away every time he gets it.
