Who feels let down again

My gripe is with the board. With three of them USA billionaires, why spunk millions on buying minority shares in Palace, but then not investing in any significance to build a team around some exciting foundations that have now been sold off. Really makes no sense to me at all.
It makes a lot more sense if you look at it as them buying a stake in the value of the Premier League rather than in Palace. For them buying into a smaller Premier League club is a bet on the value of the Premier League continuing to grow. If the value of the league grows by 20% then so does their share in Palace.

They don’t really care about the sporting success of the club beyond us doing well enough to stay in the Premier League.

Keep in mind Woody Johnson’s New York Jets are a bit of a running joke in the NFL. Unsuccessful for many years in a league built for parity and generally seen as pretty incompetently run. The story of one of Johnson’s sons reportedly rejecting a player based on video game stats is a case in point. Despite all of that Johnson has increased the value of his ownership purely by virtue of the value of the NFL growing

The American owners know f*** all about football, they're business men. They've left it to Parish to oversee the running of the club, and given that he knows little tactically about the game he hands that responsibility over to the manager, the DOF, his chum Mark Bright and anyone else who has his ear.
Selling off all your best players in the space of a couple of seasons with inadequate replacements and no master plan of how to play and indeed, realising the identity Palace want to project on and off the pitch is sure to end in tears.

Not necessarily, Sarr has ended up a decent replacement for Olise, although obviously not as good, but he’s been great for us, LaCroix was a definite upgrade on Andersen, this young fella at wing back looks like an excellent replacement for Munoz. My point is we’ve done a pretty good job of replacing top players at a snip of what we’ve sold them, so why not again? It’s what we have to do to stay competitive over several seasons not just one and who wants to keep the top players anyway if they’ve now got swollen heads and want away when we can make a tidy profit on them before they can walk away for nothing

I understand what you’re saying, it doesn’t feel great and it could catch up with us and end in relegation, but no players hang around for long at clubs these days anyway, so i get why we have to cash in while we can and at least we’ve had good players in the first place we could enjoy and give us some trophies

I agree. But the replacements must have something about them, and more importantly the club must have a vision of how it wants to play the game and how those players fit into that vision.
I can't escape the feeling of a bitty squad and a scattergun approach to signings that just looks like a mess without any real structure. Obviously it's the manager's job to knock this disparate group into a team that has some identity and can defend and attack with some adequacy. We shall see.

We were the better team first half and if Mateta didn't need 20 chances to score 1 goal it would have been a different result.
Is that not 'at the races'?
Accept your point but it's just that i referring to in general we should be able to compete in every match against the likes of Everton given where we are these days and in the last 5 years or so.

Palace is a business for them , in what way ?

To buy into other business like property , off mainland us for Tax purposes , it opens up other avenues for business relations

They likely not interested in palace just maybe football a smidge

It’s business with small inputs

Its always the same old thing with us. What kind of supporters are we when we can't even get behind our own team.

OK, So we have lost our first two games and some good good players have moved on, what would be expected for a club of our size after the last couple of seasons we've had. We managed to find some real class over the years, enough to keep us in the league for what, twelve seasons.

We have gone from a weakish championship side, with, no ground, nearly no club and not a trophy to
p!ss in, to a possible new stand, over a decade in the Premier League, an F.A. Cup, Community Shield and a European Trophy. We have recently had four of our players in the England squad, more than any of the top clubs and still we moan and its the same fans over and over.

We only have to lose a game and some smart bloke is calling out Parish or players that have only been here five minutes.

Look at Villa, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brentford and the players they have lost to top sides. On top of that we have not totally sold out as a club chasing the dollar like some of the above. As far as I see it, we play a good hand in a rigged game.

The same fans giving it the doom and gloom predict the same sh!te every season, in fact every game. What do we have to do as a club before it stops and we actually believe in our team.

Losers in the stands will breed losers on the pitch. We are one club, mood and confidence matters.

COYP..
Is this the same team who hit the post twice before Everton got a sniff, missed open goals against city before they scored? Clearly they have something on the pitch. Although actually scoring does help but chances hopefully will start being buried 🙏🏻

I can’t disagree with you on that, I think as it stands at the moment it’s in the back of all our minds. But I suppose at least we’re signing a few players this summer and only time will tell if any of them are going to be decent enough to give us a half decent team to keep us out of trouble and in Europe till the later stages

Trouble is that we don't really have a few months to find out.

We might not need months, a win or two against Foolham and Ipswich and it’ll all look very different. I’m not overly confident tbh and I’ve got a horrible feeling selling our best players could catch up with us eventually ala Southampton and Wolves, but it’s early days and once the revolving door I mean transfer window 🤣shuts we’ll know a bit more where we’re at

Wouldn't say scatter gun approach they was targeted position , he turned Lyon and Lens around , its not as bad when we got promoted think we was buying people who was standing at bus stops in the end 🤣

Who would have thought we would have the FA cup a European cup and charity shield 13 years ago , now we are complaining about getting lucky with our buys who turned into top class players , then selling them for a profit ,

It's amazing what we got out of that team. If our current team had that drive and set piece and defensive organisation, we'd be looking at the top 8 or more. We've so much more skill but not the strength.

Although i'm not that impressed by our signings this year and my jury is out on sage (although i hope he wins 4 trophies with us), i do however feel more let down by some of our "heroes" lately!!

I imagine quite similar to how villa and newcastle fans also feel!!

Are you inferring that Parish knows nothing about the game? He has somehow produced and overseen our most successful period in our entire history, thats some feats for someone, who little about the game.
If you want to feel let down, look towards the administrators of the Premier League, who allow the top 6 to just rape the other clubs of their best players with impunity.

Asset stripping our moronic American friends are consolidating profits. Obviuosly they feel we have got as far as we will climb.

We really have to show up against Fulham. I don't fancy Ipswich as much for some reason. Four points would be realistic. Win either and the relegation feeling eases considerably. Although I'm not sure I can handle our first goal being a 96th minute winner against Ipswich.

I would take it still 👍🏻

Tactics, formations, coaching and all the rest of it? No, I don't think he does. He deals with the finances and the day to day running of the club. He employs other people to do the actual football side of things. It's the likes of Freedman and Hodgson and Glasner, and the coaches and players who deserve the plaudits when times are good.

Yes indeed, nail-on-head. Well said that man.
