West ham meltdown

'The other thing is Gabriel is holding, Odegaard is holding, Trossard is holding before the foul even happens on Raya. When does the referee decide that's the foul he wants to pick and not the previous foul?'.

Do agree, much consternation about the laws this morning.........

😎

These decisions are inconsistent and always favour the bigger clubs, Arsenal have been getting away with these all season.
Exactly. The game is fully corrupt - right in front of everyone's faces. I have said since the very beginning that PGMOL are the problem. It should be disbanded and banned. The FA should step in with UEFA and get rid. We need back to FA referees - they didn't seem particularly much fairer, however, I can't shake the feeling that the PGMOL refs are under instruction to cause "entertainment". Which is not the refs job.

DERMOT GALLAGHER : If you look at it, Pablo puts his arm across Raya, he holds him, there is no doubt about that. Behind that, Declan Rice is engaged with Mavropanos, is that a penalty?

"Well, if you look at it in that order, definitely Pablo goes first, his arm is across Raya and at that point, Rice is reaching, he does get hold of him, there is no doubt about that. And if there is not a foul on the goalkeeper, that is definitely a penalty as Mavropanos is running towards the ball.

"But the first foul is definitely by Pablo."

JAY BOTHROYD: "I completely agree and it is because of the magnitude of the game that it has taken so long. but they came to the right decision because Pablo's arm is across Raya's neck, Todibo is pulling on Raya's shirt, so that is why it has to be given as a foul.

"If the magnitude of the game was not as it was, we would not even be having a debate about this." And he has looked, looked again and decided that had happened, that has gone first, that has come second and that has come third. Foul."

Look up the meaning of gaslighting. That's what ref watch is.
Perhaps we should review every Arsenal set piece goal for a fair comparison?

I do not need to refer to any information to understand the meaning of "Gaslighting".
We will have to agree to disagree with the substance of these comments.
Perhaps in the interests of HOL I should refrain from opining on certain contributions in this discussion as it could evolve into a dastardly 'Willo Thread'.

If it’s that obvious, why did the ref - who was standing right next to it all - give the goal? Presumably he thought it was six of one half a dozen of the other. Then VAR put him straight and reminded him Arsenal were going for the title.

Would you expect this to result in more fairness???

By the way, it is not difficult to move from schadenfreude to cautionary tale in the case of West Ham.

14 years in the top flight.

Won the European Conference Cup a couple of seasons back.

For those who are quick to chuckle at their demise...

Yes, I would. The reason being that we have a Premier League refereeing entity that is separate from the Football Association. At the very least, they need to be governed by Football Association and International governing body rules. Not just doing their own thing.
For instance: VAR - would that be here in the form it is now? We're the only league with VAR this ludicrous. I come back to my original point: I'm pretty sure PGMOL have been instructed to provide "entertainment". Only I don't find it entertaining, nor do any fans outside of about four teams.
Any slightly fairer thing will make the game fairer. Despite UEFAs clear corruption.
Premier League reffing went rogue some time ago and the first step is to bring it back under the governing body.

Yes, I might be wrong, but I think if West Ham are relegated we will become the team with the most consecutive years in the PL after the "big 6" (annoying term) and Everton.

Hope we can sustain our run at the top. It's been great so far. Despite all the criticisms Parish has done an incredible job, but it only takes one bad season...

The West Ham complaint will not go anywhere but the PGMOL response will be interesting. Having watched most games this season it won’t be hard to submit as evidence a dozen or more Arsenal goals from set pieces where grappling, holding, diving and overall fouling was part of the lead up to the goal.

I feel sorry for the younger generation who never experienced the spontaneous joy of celebrating goals such as Dougie’s at Stockport for example without lines being drawn on the pitch or build up play being checked before awarding a goal.

Trying to explain how this is a better way to watch football is embarrassing.

there was a table that was printed about a momth ago showing how clubs had been treated by wrong var decisions. We'd had one go for us and five go against. But liverpool had had the most go against them out of all 20 teams.

That's to make up for the last two seasons. The whole system is bent. Needs to be figuratively burnt to the ground and built again. First thing: scrap VAR. Bring in the automated offside.

Lots of ifs and buts on the run in but if Spurs win tonight West Ham would have to win both remaining games due to the goal difference.
