War in Ukraine

Taiwan and Ukraine land-grabbers Both will ultimately require significant human losses, of military and civilian life.

Tim Davies an ex RAF pilot and trainer talks about having to deal with this policy a lot.....and for most of its time it went under-reported in the media but was having terrible consequences for our air-force capability.

I'll remind anyone reading....all the people responsible for implementing and supporting these programs were either promoted or now retired on big fat pensions.

Proving that it isn't whether what you did benefited or improved the service but whether you did the political class's bidding.

Now Shapps in this post refers to this policy as if it's Labour's 'woke' policy but that's a lie...Woke may have started on the left but the Conservative party not only accepted the ideology but they implemented it.......This particular policy started under the Tories and was being implemented under them as well.....The only thing to cause it to break its step was the war in Ukraine when they realised they might be called upon.

Utter, utter wankery.

Wall Street Journal: Since February 2025, only about 500 people have signed the "18-24" contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Despite various bonuses, the program has faced bureaucratic obstacles, resistance from parents, and a general reluctance among young people to serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The longer Ukraine leave a peace deal the worse it gets.....but Zelensky obviously isn't willing to be a Michael Collins figure and die for a settlement. He's happy to take it to the last Ukrainian, with Ukraine a rump destroyed state and then run off to Dubai.....The Ukrainians never having had a vote on whether they wanted this.

When there isn’t a peace deal on the table how on earth can one be accepted?

The problem isn’t Zelensky, it’s Putin, and has been ever since he became the President of Russia with his refusal to accept that Ukraine is now a separate sovereign state.

Even Trump, in his latest pronouncements, seems to have finally understood that, with his “gone crazy” comments and acknowledgment that Putin doesn’t want part of Ukraine, he wants all of it.

Unconfirmed reports of Ukraine failing to assassinate Putin.

If true we can wave goodbye to any peace.

Have done what this esteemed poster suggested last time and googled this. Suggest others do likewise if you want an insight into the ‘news’ sources that Mr Dare gets his ‘intel’ from.

Does the word "unconfirmed" mean anything to you?

The sheer development of drones in this war is very significant. Reports are the drones are now being developed and have been used that use AI instead of GPS, thus making them harder to disrupt. Russia are significantly out producing Ukraine and these flying bombs are getting through at much higher percentage rates.

Drones are in an arms race as we speak and it is changing the nature of warfare dramatically. Numbers of Infantry become far more important than tanks and armoured vehicles as drones are making expensive armour obsolete.....At least until an effective drone counter is found, which other than counter drones and infantry with shotguns, probably won't be for quite a while.

I posted a link.......

Also look up the definition of "unconfirmed" which I clearly mentioned.

I should suspect Ukraine would love to kill Putin, much more than Russia would care about killing Zelensky.

If they take out Putin the Russian reaction would probably be so harsh the Americans and Europeans would finally send troops.....Well, that's probably the thought process. It's all about widening the war and that's always been their only chance (outside of the Russian economic collapse).

If there was an actual attempt on Putin's life, that's probably upped everything. For Ukraine and Europe's liberal leaders there isn't really much to lose.

Considering how wrong and how much of a failure your positions on this war have been I'm amazed you have the gall to comment on it.

As for the Russian position.....that was gone over so much in the thread that it just feels like treading water. As usual you can only view things with one eye and quite frankly that's part of why we are where we are.

The 2022 peace deal rejection was the disastrous and mad position and it's the likes of yourself that supported that.

‘Unconfirmed reports’ is very different to ‘Russian commander claims’ now, isn’t it?

And the ‘news’ section of Google (that you told me to search last time) has this being ‘reported’ by some suspiciously Russian friendly media outlets.

Trump has harsh words for Putin, sure but lesser reported seems to be his words on Zelensky and the war in general.

As has been said many times he's looking for a way out.

Putin won't take all of Ukraine, that's not realistic for several reasons, but he'll certainly look to leave it a rump state.....All said a long time ago.

War ends by the end of the year....all said a long time ago....Russian spending is committed on its war economy up till 2026 so maybe it extends into next year a bit, but we will see. At some point they will look to defend what they have but only when they think it can't be retaken.

You can pump money and weapons into Ukraine but you can't maintain the manpower....they are starting to rely more on drones than troops on sections of territory and the problem is that they are being out produced on them as well.

Neocons being neocons and fecking everything up as usual.
