War in Ukraine

Feel free to call me a paranoid loon....

This lunacy from Starmer? Trying to somehow cajole us into a 'Rejoin the EU' position? Pose it as a case that now we can no longer rely on the US to 'save' us from the Russian Bear, then we need to go back under the umbrella of Brussels?

Happy to be slated on this one as I just quite trust my own thought process. And perhaps trying to see smoke and mirrors on this one where they simply don't exist...but something ain't adding up.

Starmer wanted the second referendum.....I put nothing past him.

The military situation with Europe doesn't really rely on the EU.

Some sort of misdirection is happening here. With or without the US, Europe has nukes.
In my opinion, the US not supporting Europe would be more likely to lead to a nuclear exchange.

Trump is playing to the crowd.

You are dead against rejoining the EU but think it's ok to mollycuddle up to reliable old Putin. :drunk:

Starmer wanted the second referendum.....I put nothing past him.

So did Farage in the even of a loss (which he announced after he had bought the exit poll data saying he'd won, and then told his hedge fund pals such as Crispin Odey to short Sterling for a brisk profit)

PS, I want full rejoin, euro, schengen, no veto, so a hard Brenter. The opposite of the daft old sod society.

It's a fair enough criticism.

But Farage isn't in power so it's also kind of moot.

One thing that Starmer is for sure is a proper diplomatic statesman. We've not had that for some time.
On that diplomatic front I don't think we have had anything like as poor as Biden and Trump, but the American system seems to have an issue with retiring their boomers.

However, I'll give it to Starmer, he makes a good diplomat.

Trump should actually be thanking Zelensky.

Why?

Because Ukraine aid is supporting the US defence industry, and surely everyone realises by now that this is what the US has been doing across the globe for decades.

Gaza? Made in Iowa.

The US has actually provided less aid than the EU, 120 billions not 350 as Trump says, and the defense industry is the main beneficiary.

You're believing stats from the elites now Steely? Supporting weapons companies?

It should be apparent that Trump is on a massive state spending reduction purge. The military budget is part of that. I've heard suggestions that he could be cutting forty percent of US bases around the world.
Let me tell you Steely, that's not really going to be in the middle east is it? For reasons I can't be bothered to go into Israel is basically the same country as America if not more important to its politicians.....So none of those cut bases will involve Israel's perceived security.

European bases however....I suspect will be part of that base cut and that also means less weapons required and less ammo. America wants European countries in Nato and buying their equipment and thus bringing money into their economy but they want to reduce the size of their own expenditure......to be frank with their spending that makes sense.

The British taxpayer is being played by just about everyone at the moment.
