War in Ukraine

Welcome to the nuclear world. Let Vlad do as he pleases or he’ll vaporise us. No problem with him enlisting North Korea, or bombing civilians to oblivion. Sooner or later a tyrant with nuclear weapons would appear. Well here he is. Let’s let him do what he wants then he’ll be nice to us. His mates in Iran must all be getting the horn over all the nuclear technology they now have.
The world has turned to sh1t. No easy way to fix it. Hiding behind the sofa just might not work.

We’ve been playing chicken with Russia/USSR nearly 60 years. We’re lucky to have lasted this long. If doomsday isn’t triggered now we have our Islamic and North Korean pals who are fancying it sometime. Odds are it will happen one day.
 
The reason ATACMS is such a red line for Russia is they require direct involvement of the US military to use.
Firstly locating the target via satellite & secondly they need us troops to actually fire the things - same applies with storm shadow.

Islam would focus on Israel/America first and North Korea would focus on America.

In this particular situation with Russia we are the most likely target as thanks to Johnson, Sunak and Starmer we have been the most bellicose. I would consider us lucky if we get out of this without anything.

Recent testing of our nuclear defence was extremely concerning.

A lot is going to depend upon what Trump brings to the table and how Russia views it.....They won't want to destroy realistic off ramps, which is precisely why Biden has chosen now to escalate.

A hope is that, just as with Trump, that the Pentagon aren't being honest with Biden and are secretly warning the Russians on where and reassuring them that certain targets won't be in play as we have entered an extremely dangerous time.

The people who have been calling for this and think playing chicken with nuclear death deserve criticism. Maybe they have no genetic future they care about. If it goes wrong it's the end for all of us. The problem with these people is there is no going back once that line is crossed and deliberately playing with the future of humanity is stupidity.

Technology develops, Russia and America have sophisticated missile defence systems and I know Moscow has lots of nuclear underground bunkers for its population developed during the cold war.

We have nothing available to the public....it was considered in the 70s by Labour but rejected due to the cost.

Indeed. One would hope all Russian tanks are using bio-fuel 🙂

Whispers the USA is now authorising the use of land mines. I thought most countries had banned these , after the Princess Diana publicity. ?

War isn't very nice. But a lot of people do seem to be making an awful lot of money out of it.

Both sides have been using proper landmines since the start of the war.

America approving these 'timed' landmines is just more involvement.....Biden will try to make things as difficult as possible for Trump come January....We can only hope that Russia doesn't bite, however I expect some form of retaliation is inevitable.
 
Only now are we starting to get our intelligence and security services to feed more honest appraisals of how the Ukrainian war is going.

For years we have had the sight of them putting talking heads onto national TV to tell us that Russia was losing: running out of men, running out of ammo, low on morale, about to collapse and all the rest of it.

All to convince the public that continuing in the war made sense despite the higher prices it causes and the very real dangers we put ourselves into.

For me personally it's the lying that annoys me the most. These weren't top secrets for national security, anyone with a couple of brain cells could work out what was happening, follow independent battlefield reports.....indeed, much of how this war has gone was predicted by people at its start. Ukraine's only chance was Russian economic collapse and that's been avoided for several reasons....that and Nato full involvement and essentially WW3.

Lions led by donkeys.

Ridiculous carry on by the UK and US at the moment.

A: Giving Ukraine the missiles
B: Giving the go ahead to actually fire them.

They seem to all want this to escalate before Trump gets in. They want to take peace talks off the table and for the war to go on for years to come.
 
Appeasing a monster like Putin is unwise so I’m glad US and UK are allowing use of our weapons without restrictions- shame it wasn’t allowed from day 1.
Russia needs to be held responsible and defeated for starting this war and Putin’s threats must be ignored.
Hopefully The Donald will see the light when his NATO Allies educate him.
