I don't think the decision to ban the Maccabi fans was wrong, nor disgraceful - I think WMP made a complete balls up of the process and how they went about it, but the decision was very evidently the correct one.

Of course it can be both - WMP were clearly stupid and made many errors, but the decision is also very clearly the correct one. Anyone suggesting otherwise is far more entrenched and ideological than I am.

If fans are acting violent then it's up to uefa to fine / ban them.

But we now know that the police stopped them going to the game for other reasons.

The mistake was to pander to the Muslim population of Birmingham. They were either directed to do so by the government or they wanted to avoid exposing themselves to the harsh reality of what Birmingham has become.
