Very very stupid thing to do. To be honest it's time to take a stand and come down hard against threats like these. Some mentally ill people will take them seriously and attempt another assassination.
If people in the UK are locked up for a silly Facebook post then people in the US can certainly be arrested for death threats against the current president.
You will get loons however trying to defend that sort of behavior.
If I made an x post in the UK 86 58. I'd be locked up and key thrown away.

Comey comes from an organisation which practically operates entirely upon the plausible deniability structure....essentially a deception and lying machine.
What he has done here is extremely dangerous.....mainly for him personally (he could end up in prison if anything happened to Trump) but also it reveals just how much in danger Trump's life is in.....much in the same way that Kennedy's life was.
Kennedy took on the CIA and FBI and threatened them and sacked high officials. It's highly suspected that his death involved the knowledge and participation of elements within the CIA, both former and current.....Most evidence being destroyed....only indirect remaining.
I have little doubt that Trump's life is in significant danger, much in the same way.....though it would be harder now as these organisations are headed by Trump appointees. However, Trump has turned on the Israeli lobby and possibly his own donors, which are extremely powerful power structures. By making deals with Saudi and Qatar and essentially calling off the bombings in Yemen and refusing a war in Iran he is pissing a lot of powerful elements off....(criticising neocons is literally criticising half his cabinet). It looks, at least for now, that Trump is making big directional changes....but maybe next week it'll be a 180.
It's much harder to get at a president in the modern day, but by no means impossible, because it's hard to defend against those willing to lose their lives.
I have disagreements with Trump, he lies, exaggerates, is crude and sometimes listens to bad advice.....He's a New York real estate guy made president, a 80s/90s Democrat politically who's only a republican now because the Democrats moved so much further left........But hell on earth that man has balls.
His detractors are pussies in comparison.

I just get the impression with Trump that he is going for it.
By this I mean that his number one priority is America's economic future, which means he's going to avoid new wars and try to get out of paying for any current ones.
Whether his economic plans on tariffs works (I suspect it does but not as much as he thinks) only time will tell. I also think it benefits the next and future administrations more than his simply because the changes he is encouraging (building plants and factories) take years. However, that's unusual (investing in long term policy) in democracies and something that should be lauded. Also I think a lot of people don't understand that these aren't going to be factories producing clothes and tat, they are mostly high tech stuff and pharmaceuticals. He appears to already have received massive investments, we will see if this actually pans out.
There are obviously a lot of moving parts involved in this and essentially he is off loading costs onto allies (Europe, because it isn't only the EU) and that does change the master/client relationship that has existed post WW2.
With the American economy....which like the west's in general is heading for debt collapse because it's a welfare economy with an ageing population (and third world ponzi schemes are short term can kicking that lead to much worse long term conditions)....So coming out with an economic win is much harder than the vast majority of people realise. But he's going for that growth and I will at least say that he....at the very least, refused to give up on his people (unlike his business class).
We are living in a period of genuine transformation and while we can make likely predictions, no one can be certain what the outcomes will be.

Saudi's previous aircraft deal was with the UK, negotiated with Thatcher. I noted no one mentioned that's clearly not being renewed. At a guess, that was what was making British defence exports quite high. Whilst the government talks tough about bolstering defence capabilities, Trump is going around and hoovering most of it up.
You could be fooled into thinking the US stuff is great but in reality it's overly complicated and cost inefficient. Not massively reliable and expensive to maintain. Plus, so many secret, US personnel only parts that you need hundreds of US staff for maintenance.
Largely the same has happened in Australia with submarines.

Yep the Ukraine war has shown that often it's the smaller less expensive tech that is required in much larger qualities that is showing its effectiveness in winning engagements. You need the large powerful complex tech of course, but a lot of it is so devastating that it can be more damaging than effective....as paradoxical as that sounds...ie politically.....and as you say, expensive to maintain and have in significant numbers all while coming with complex supply and required skill chains.
Again the war in Ukraine is showing that, for the moment, cheap drones are making tanks, armored vehicles, ships and even aircraft much more ineffective....and losing those set pieces to drones is extremely expensive.....and we know the economic ability to carry out a war is a large part of it continuing.
It's going to be drones and eventually robots and we need to build underground to avoid a lot of it ....or we are underground permanently.
Of course no western country will be building feck all for us plebs.

Do you seriously think someone as clever as Comey would do something like this deliberately?
If he wanted to encourage someone to kill Trump, and that’s a very big if, for sure he wouldn’t do this. He has plenty of contacts and anything would be done completely under the radar. Not posted on social media. That’s what a kid might do.
