US Politics

That’s beyond my knowledge. You will need to do your own research. I have gas in my own house but the engineers are the ones who have to ensure standards are met.

I don’t have gas connected to my rental properties. I have told you that many times. Are you getting forgetful? Dementia is an awful disease.
Nope. Gas engineers service appliances and if they find unsafe appliances they can recommend you get it sorted. They isolate and label the appliance and can isolate the meter. Then write an at risk or in some cases immediately dangerous notice. If they suspect the owner/ user will reinstate it. They should call and report to transco who will cap or even remove the meter. If stupid people don’t believe them and turn the meter or appliance back on and get hurt or even die the evidence is there in writing. If the owner wishes for safety a request to cap the meter it can be done by the engineer.
Exceptions will be an uncontrolled gas leak where the engineer will use their authority and isolate and cap the service without comeback which will never be seen as an overstep of their authority.
The standards are set at a higher point being a division of hmg in some capacity.
It’s all in the IGUPE documents.
Just to clarify!

It’s almost like the guy who runs the company made some sort of announcement this week that he was going to concentrate on actually running his business and step away from politics which was damaging the brand.
It's almost like the money men have decided "forgive and forget" is the way to go. They've sold their shares at one price, won their brownie points then bought them back at a lower price a week later and everyone's happy with the profit made.
It's a good job that the Heads of gun companies don't get involved in politics or their morally unimpeachable businesses would be in trouble.

The large majority of ‘investors’ are pensions funds and investment vehicles, not individuals who act with a singular conscience. But consumers are. And consumer demand is way down and unlikely to fully recover due to the damaged Musk brand. And that will still make it a less popular (and therefore less valuable) stock in short term at least.

The tanking of the Tesla stock was always going to happen, as was the inevitable Musk change in focus and slight bounce back in share price. It’s still way down in the year. I’ll be surprised if it fully recovers any time soon.

Actually fewer states do this & there is probably as much chlorine in a chicken than there is in a bag of pre prepared salad you'd pick up from Waitrose. It seems in RFK we actually are at long last going to be cutting down on dyes, additives & other unnecessary added stuff
Many additives are essential for food safety and security. We couldn’t feed the world without them. Gone are the days when we ate directly from field to table, we preserve and consume, rather than go from feast to famine. It’s the safety assessments of them that’s the issue and there are questionable standards in the USA. That though is totally separate from farming practices which prioritise commercial considerations over the health and well being of the consumer. RFK has some weird ideas which aren’t based on science but seemingly on personal prejudices.

Thanks for the expert summary.

As I said this is not an area of expertise for me so I rely on others who are, in my case the service engineers, to advise me.

The main point remains. I only have gas in my own home. There is none in my rental properties so I have no responsibilities for gas safety there. Something I have said before.

Actually it wasn’t as a dig for once. It may help others to understand that responsibility is with them for their own safety after they have the information. Please believe the engineer as I know there are bad ones but mostly good. We are very highly regulated and even schoolboy errors can put us in jail.
It costs a lot of time, money and effort to get accreditation and kitted out with the correct tools and losing the accreditation does happen.

It's also almost like he said from the beginning that his government role was temporary and would be stepping away after a few months.

The shares prices were always going to rebound at some point. Even the company I have a lot of shares in are on the rebound now.

It’s almost like the pressure from his investors expedited that move.

Rebound somewhat, yes. Be interesting to see what the lasting damage to Brand Elon is though. The stock price is still down 25% YTD, despite a rally over the last couple of days.

I don't think Elon musk cares much about investors or sponsors. He once told them all to go "f*** yourselfs" and "I don't care" the videos are easily searchable.

But yes it will be interesting to see how it much it rebounds. It's down 25 percent in the last 6 months but over 5 years its way way up.

Anyways all positive vibes today ✌🏻🔴🔵

This chinese young man explains simply, accurately how his people have benefitted from 40 years of USA/China relations but not the americans, it's rare to hear the truth spelled out so refreshingly:-

"You let oligarchs feed you lies while they made you fat, poor, and addicted."

Trillions, not billions, spent on useless wars by the USA while China's rise has
been peaceful.

😎

And the smiles of the ones who invest but hate the system 😀
I quite like that poster.....I don't mind rational lefties.

I think that people like him and Spindle are good additions from the left/centre.....though the bbs would probably consider them to be on the right.

En route to the meeting pub in Marylebone now. Cash in some of those shares and come buy me a pint 😉.

It's very very on the money.

But let no one be fooled that the sudden propaganda effort from China (a lot of it is very good) isn't designed for anything other than helping China by increasing discontent....Even if a lot of what we hear is true.

The Chinese guy is referring to the 'citizen of nowhere' problem with western wealth elites. Musk (obviously a hate figure on the left) called it, 'appearing to do good, while doing evil'. The focus needs to be on nationalism from the elites.....A symbiotic relationship between rich and poor that hasn't existed for over fifty years.

China doesn't suffer from this problem for two reasons.....One it doesn't allow personal freedoms amongst any of its classes, let alone the wealth class, and two nationalism is part of the culture so loyalty to the nation is the norm.

Compared to China the west now has massive internal problems that it's allowed subversives to create. Also Mearsheimer again hits the problem on the nose in that the western elites caused the problem of China themselves by getting pretty much everything wrong about the effect of its rise.

Many of those elites are still in power today.....It's another huge problem in the west....The sheer fact that the quality of our elites has been shockingly low for a long time now.....Yet these same people enjoy all the same rewards. It's like paying massive wages and rewards to a falling footballer in your team.

And they all mark their own homework.

A big problem that the west faces that few people realise is what Apple's Cook was saying the other day.

Lots of people think that jobs shipped out to China are because of low wages.....and initially it was and for companies in certain fields remains so.

However, for tech companies like Apple the transfer of jobs into China became 'intelligence' based, insomuch as China has a far larger pool of highly qualified talent compared to America.

Trump's tariffs maybe be crude but parts of it are addressing a stark problem we face....Certain jobs have to come back or it's goodnight sunshine for the west. However it's done it has to happen.

It's also a consequence of IQ and discussions that are taboo in the west because 'appearing good' is more important to its modern culture than the truth.....but eventually that hurts you.

But the scale of it relates back to my previous post and the social problems the west has allowed to happen, mostly out of political power games, which have had damaging internal consequences.....Our educational systems and social cohesion have meant that US and western standards are lower than an emerging nation like China.....and it shouldn't be forgotten that China is still rural over the vast majority of its country.

Actually my thanks were also sincere.
