Ah, but I didn’t hit anyone! It was an insurance scam. I know because I was there. You weren’t. Anytime that any accident has been my fault I have accepted it. This wasn’t.
I was upset with the Judge, who was actually a Solicitor without any specialist knowledge, because the fact it was a scam was very obvious. My Barrister was outraged and said some very sharp words to him, which he then had to apologise for. Even the opposing Barrister was shocked and nearly fell out of his chair when the ruling was given. The look on his face would have been funny in other circumstances. I would have appealed but the insurers, who were funding everything, decided not to spend any more money. They knew it was a scam and had decided to expose it, rather than take the cheap option and buy off the scammer. They did so because they knew I would be a strong witness. That though wasn’t enough.
It still annoys me.
