US Politics

I certainly can only speak for myself but I haven’t seen anything “normal” from the democrats that would suggest anything other than another electoral beating.

Until the democrats find their Tony Blair, it will be a long hard TDS road to recover from.

I would consider myself a “middle of the road” person as does Wissie but looking left for me is as unpalatable and looking right is to others.

As Teddy says, that’s what elections are for then EVERYONE should suck it up and get on with life!!

I find folks with TDS rarely realize they have it and rarely realize they are contributing to the Trump problem. 😉

And for the record, I am not a Democrat or Republican… registered Libertarian (which honestly feels like an oxymoron!).

I don’t think Trump is the devil or the savior, he just is.

Always good to hear other viewpoints.

I saw a report today that suggested other House Republicans are considering quitting before the mid terms and that there is a sense of despondency among them. The suggestion being that Speaker Johnson is ignoring them as is the White House. They are fed up with being unable to actually do anything and see nothing but a wipe out ahead.

Of course everyone must accept the result of an election. However that implies that those who have been voted for do the job they were elected to do. Presidents must act as Presidents. Not grifting wanna be dictators, declaring countless emergencies and ruling by Executive Order. Congress must do its job and insist on the separation of powers. So too must the Justice Department and the Supreme Court.

At least you acknowledge there is a problem!

How do you recommend it is solved?

As an American, I can attest to this. If the liberals/Democrats/Media had just stopped whining, moaning and often lying about Trump, he would not have been re-elected. The majority of Americans elected him, but I am convinced the swing vote came from people who (a) got sick of the unfair media treatment of Trump or (b) grew weary of the extremists that hijacked the Democrat Party with the emphasis on pronouns, transgender issues etc instead of meaningful things like the economy and border control.

Ironically, those shouting the loudest of the evils of Trumpo are giving the narcissist just wants he wants ... and needs.

I don't if sharing this link will work, but this is a great (humorous) video called "Stop Making Me Defend Trump"

Yep, I think you are spot on.

If they had been the actual 'grown ups in the room' and moved on Trump would have never gathered the level of support he did.

Arresting Trump and putting him into trials was absolute madness (which they actually convinced themselves was a good idea). Trying to remove him from ballots and looking for anything they could to damage his life....and of anyone who would work with him.

(though for some reason, when it came to Epstein, radio silence for four years, until they lost.)

I made the point long before the 24' election that I think most on the right would like to move on from Trump, but the Democrats were insanely attacking the guy and made it impossible. The point was made to them many times but you can't reason with them.....they are obsessed with Trump.

TDS literally made Trump the 47th president.

The Democrats did not arrest or charge Trump! The justice system did.

This persistent framing of what happen whilst Biden was President as a political witch-hunt is just parroting Trump. It isn’t true. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Democrats would have much preferred it not to happen, because they would have been aware of Trump’s capacity to present himself as a victim as anyone else.

They didn’t because they couldn’t without themselves really being guilty of political interference in the justice system.

Their mistake is not that they were behind it but that they didn’t make it much clearer that they weren’t.

No one serious assumes that the current Trump administration with his appointees in the justice system doesn't persecute its enemies.....They are far more honest about it.

But apparently when it's the Democrats running the administration they play no hand in persecuting its enemies.

This is despite all the revelations in files that have been leaked onto X showing that the opposite is the truth.....but since when did the truth matter to WE.

Apparently Wisbech believes that plausible deniability isn't a thing and that everything is at face value.

Highly amusing from an ex-marketing manager.....and of course complete baloney.

Of course the Democrats were highly involved in what happened to Trump.,

No one serious believes any different.

To me the obvious reason why the Epstein files are protected by both parties is two fold.

One is that their donor systems are implicated.

Two that Mossad/CIA and multiple intel agencies (ours included) were involved in dealings with Epstein, prior and post his peado conviction. How much honeypot operations were involved in that is one thing, but they don't want information about their grubby deals around the world with warlords, drug dealers and all the rest of the corruption revealed.

Epstein was a deal maker around the world and girls were used to 'juice deals'.....it's the underworld and our intel agencies are involved within it....How deep the rot goes....Well.

Epstein wasn't and isn't the only one doing this.....he just flew too close to the sun.

Poor wording on my part.

Here's what I should have typed:
"I find folks with TDS rarely realize they have it and rarely realize they are contributing to their OWN Trump problem."

It's fairly obvious that Wisbech hates Trump.
He is certainly entitled to that opinion.
There is stuff not to like about Trump, no doubt.

I have many friends who share Wisbech's views, and like Wisbech they don't realize it's their one-sided hysteria that has helped Trump every step of the way. From edited interviews from folks like CBS and the BBC ... to farcical judicial decisions (the 2020 Georgia fraud charges against Trump were dropped today) even people who are not strong Trump supporters are tired of the bias.

There is no "Trump Problem" per se.
He's like any President ... pissing off half of the country... we had a "Biden Problem" in equal measure. We in the USA are so polarized right now it's disgusting, and the hatred/love of Trump has made that polarization so much worse.

Interestingly, here are the approval ratings from the organization that was closest in terms of forecasting the 2024 Presidential election:

Favorability Ratings - RCP Poll Averages

-09.9% Trump
-12.2% Republicans
-22.2% Democrats

The Democrats are not doing well .. and it's their own fault.
Too focused on moving further to the left, not moving more to the center.
That's why AOC and Mamdani will guarantee future Republican victories if they become the faces of the the party.

In the end, I'm just hoping for a Crystal Palace win tomorrow at Strasbourg!
I've come to realize that I'm far more tribal with sports than I am at with politics.

For that reason, don't take it personally if I don't respond much more on this Trump subject.
I've found you don't change many minds, you just feed into the anger.
And that ain't a good thing.

This is a spectacularly sensible post. So much so that some blowback should be expected.

Looks like two national guards have been shot in Washington tonight:

There seems to be pictures of the suspect doing the rounds on X being carried into an ambulance.

I am serious and I do! So that’s one assertion down the drain.

That the Trump team claim that documents show Democratic involvement doesn’t mean it’s true! I have not seen one and if anything like that existed it would hit the headlines. That Trump has tasked Bondi to dig dirt is obvious, but she is just as obviously struggling badly to do so. So evidence please, rather than assertions.

Just to correct you. As I have said here many times I don’t hate Trump. I pity him. I don’t hate anyone who is as disturbed as he clearly is. He needs help, not hate! I hate those who are behind him, pulling his strings and controlling his agenda.

TDS is just a pejorative term that those behind Trump have planted in the minds of the right to try to get them to ignore valid criticism. It’s not real. It’s evidence of how some are being manipulated.

Trump is not like any other President. Thankfully, up to now, he has been unique in just how bad he is. No other has enriched himself, and those behind him, like he has, let alone got away with it.

You may take yourself seriously fella, but...

You have no mirror, but we see you.

This pity has, in the last week, caused you to describe him as "corrupt", "autocrat", "evil" and a "grifting wannabe dictator". If you do start to hate him how will anyone know?

I think if you asked the average American is their judicial system political they would say yes.

Quite how anyone can say it isn't I really don't know. Just watch an episode of Law & Order or read any US crime book. The DA is always looking for headlines to get re-elected or to promote their bid to be Governor or Senator. The judge is doing the same hoping for a seat on a bigger court. They all play to the optics.

This goes on from the dog catcher right up to the Supreme Court.

Lawyers go judge shopping, cops do the same when they went a warrant.

The DA uses a Grand Jury to indite a ham sandwich. It's a high political one sided process where often the defendant is not told they are being indited and cannot defend themselves (at that point). The DA produces a skewed version of the evidence to get the indictment. Of course that is not a trial and the defendant will get his chance but it makes great headlines and smears that person. Who remembers later that they were found not guilty.

The idea that the Democrats did not do the same when they went after Trump is laughable and now Trump is doing the same back.

The US legal system is a joke that favours the rich and powerful.
