I don’t suppose anyone was but should they misunderstand the term, as you clearly do, they should read the entry.

Trolls post “deliberately offensive or provocative messages online”!

They don’t answer posts that themselves are offensive or provocative with quiet, reasoned common sense. Which is all I do.

If this forum was one that was established to be a place where extreme right wing opinion could be exchanged then the presence of people like me could be regarded as trolling.

It isn’t. This is simply the News and Politics section of a football website. One that I have belonged to since its inception and is devoted to a club I have supported for 70 years. That a majority of those posting take a different line to me ought not mean my views aren’t important. I am no troll. I am Palace supporter.

Not for me and the major of Americans. I will let to know if my opinion changes over the coming months or years!

Trump will be effectively gone in the next 2-3 years so unless the Dems get over him fast it will end in tears again!

I doubt it has escaped your notice, although in my experience it does the majority of Americans, that most of the people in the world, and especially importantly, in the western alliance, don’t live in America. They are though significantly impacted by what happens there.

So the USA turning inwards, becoming selfish and abrogating their duties to everyone else, matters greatly.

The trust is being broken. If trust goes then so does reliance. New partnerships will be forged. Not immediately. Economies are too interdependent for that but gradually, perhaps even unnoticeably until they are obvious.

The 21st century was always going to see China replace the USA as the world super power. What wasn’t anticipated was the USA assisting and accelerating that change in this way.

History will judge the electing of Trump to have been a form of collective suicide.
 
The thing i found surprising about Trump at the start of his first tenure, was he actually made some smart appointments by promoting his adversaries to his Administration. A bit of diversity of thinking can work very well.
Political adversaries who went a bit far in their criticism, rightly took shelter from political fallout.
This time around, Trump seems ahead of the game. He's already got the biggest business leaders behind him.
You don't have to be exceptionally smart to be President. Look at Biden. What can set you apart is the team you have behind you. It wouldn't surprise me if the fires on the West Coast were started by Biden's Administration burning implicating documents.

However, Biden's administration have so far seemed intent on sabotaging the in-coming Presidents plans. Biden's discussion have all the hallmarks of setting up a real hostile situation for Trump to deal with. Would love to be proved wrong.

Smith has produced a report on the case he had prepared against Trump for his role in the Jan 6th rioting. I haven’t read the report but this summary by the BBC makes for interesting, and pretty damning, reading.

Smith is convinced Trump would have been convicted. Only him winning a second term seems to have stopped that. Could there be a stronger motivation to invent reasons for a delay than avoiding probable jail? Could there be a stronger motivation to become President than not be eligible for prosecution with the ability to pardon yourself thrown in?

He cannot though avoid the State level election interference case being resumed in 2029. Whether it will I think depends on his behaviour in the next 4 years. With hope, that might restrain him.

Smith has now resigned. Doing so to avoid Trump being able to sack him. Expect a book, then a film based on the book follow by howls of witch-hunt from the Whitehouse.

Trump has already called Smith deranged. Now where have we heard that before?

Just hearing now that the LA wildfires are Trump's fault. If he were to come in with a climate change agenda this wouldn't have happened. And he personally stole the water using a convoy of Tesla trucks and drank it, laughing with his buddy Musk.

He doesn't normally use much water - his vampiric tendencies keep him away from the running kind and he showers in orphans tears.

Someone here suggested they were started by the burning of documents which incriminated Biden!

Neither being anything more than silly jokes that don’t even reach the conspiracy theory threshold.

I do though expect that lessons will be learned and greater resources provided in the future to ensure better preparedness. Although you cannot prepare for every eventuality.

Hardly a surprise is it?

If the western alliance is going to be shaken and stirred then people in many countries will welcome it. Less for us meaning more for them. Except Trump plans less for everyone.

They might then revise that view after some experience.

You can do pre fire management. Clearing dead trees, branches and other non attached waste. Not re routing a river which limited supply and basically prepare for the worst. Which is now happening. Funny this is paraphrasing trump from a while ago, but TDS will create some reason it couldn’t be him saying it!!!
