US Politics

Noble ambitions need to be administered by noble people. Not by a*se licking mouthpieces for a corrupt former President.

Any report from them is worth waiting for. To see the convolutions that are used to reach weird conclusions and then to read the minority view, where more truth is likely to be found.

Unless any enquiry supports a preconceived idea it can be dismissed.
Where are the enquiry results that show the rioters were right wing extremists? That conclusion didn't need any corroboration.

What has that got to do with US politics?

It also doesn’t make any sense to me in any context, whether related or not.

What a surprise, they’re at it again.

Trump himself is very unlikely to be implicated himself this time. He will have learned not to risk that. He is though the intended beneficiary.

In other news there are attempts to defame Kamala Harris by the right. Not much of a surprise either.

Amazing that there are no comments here about last night's debate between Harris and Trump.

I don't suppose that would have happened in Trump had come out on top, which he obviously didn't.

Only a brief look shows how rattled and out of control he is. Hopefully this will be another push down the slope to the oblivion he so richly deserves. Those undecided independents will have been reassured that Harris is viable Presidential material and be breathing a sigh of relief that they no longer must swallow hard and accept Trump despite his many faults. I anticipate a steady rise in approvals for her now, especially in the swing states boosted by the motivation of the younger voters to get active and see the job done.

It's playing out much as I expected and hoped. Things can though always go wrong and dirty tricks can be anticipated from several sources desperate to get Trump re-elected.

I’m not that bothered about American domestic politics. Things like the colour of a coffee cup lid to match lipstick doesn’t interest me, although I’d like to see how she can afford to give millions of people the deposit for a home. That sounds too good to be true!

But what does concern me is a giggling woman trying to navigate a man’s world east of Poland.

Unfortunately they’re both childish, arguing over who leaves early or doesn’t attend their conferences.

Just a tad sexist response?

Don't worry too much there will be plenty of men advising Harris. Much better than Trump not taking advice from anyone.

Harris isn't arguing about who attends conferences. She is goading Trump into exposing his hypocrisy.

It's unfortunate but necessary to ensure that enough people decide to make sure he is defeated.

It might be just "American politics" at the moment but as the outcome will probably make a bigger difference to us than anything our own politics will it's very important.

I watch intently a lot of US political news and quite frankly I saw nothing last night that resembled a meaningful debate. Harris offered precious little substance in her words that made much sense to me and Trump regurgitated the same old same old speech. Time will tell but don’t think this changed many people’s minds. Do you hate Trump more than the policies of the left (basically Harris is irrelevant).

Now where the Democrats won is convincing the American public that past failures are all Trumps fault yet they’ve been in power for 12 out the past 16 years.

I left the room after 30 minutes due to complete embarrassment all round. All I can say is that Nikki Haley would have wiped the floor with both candidates and in hindsight that maybe where the election was won or lost.

One cannot become president of the U.S if one is born outside of it.
Just saying...
Although they've cooked the books before. Obama born in Kenya and Bill Clinton born in England.

On a more somber note I’ve just been watching the gut wrenching events of 9/11 replayed this morning to remind myself who are the true threats to democracy.

All perspective and common sense is slowly being eroded from our lives!

I don't consider that either of them offered any insight to what their policies are, just taking digs at each other over things the other may or may not have said/done previously. The left wing media are claiming that it was a triumph for her, but that is only to be expected.

I have to say Kamala did better than I was expecting but whether it would have swayed any undecided voters is debatable.

It was supposed to be sexist, because I was talking about K Harris having to deal with Putin, the Middle East, China, North Korea, you name it.

Foreign affairs, maybe, maybe not. Depends how much of a mess Labour make. American domestic politics? I doubt it.

The world with Harris in charge will be like Biden but worse. However, at least the media here will report it as excellent so we won't even know except by looking out of the window every once in a while. When we can afford it and it's safe to do so.

sorry to disagree Eagle. We are getting reminded every month. Southport, Parnell Street Primary School, Manchester Arena.....

Where do you get these ideas from?

Even the arch purveyor of lies, Trump, has given up on these.

Obama was born in Honolulu and Clinton in Arkansas.
