I don’t know. Any more than anyone else here does. Natural mutations occur. They have in the past well before bio labs existed and in these days of widespread travel the potential for rapid spread is much greater. They could have been lab leaks, either accidental or deliberate. Who might leak deliberately is just speculation. There are many potential candidates. We don’t know and probably never will.

Emerged in would be a more accurate statement. There is evidence that existing viruses jumped the species barrier and infected humans.

However if, and it’s a big if, there was any deliberate manipulation of a virus that potentially could have been done anywhere before being released in China. You don’t need to import a truckload. Just a few drops from a pipette would be enough. China might look to be the obvious culprit but that might also be the point.

I don’t believe it, but accept we just don’t know.

All true and perfectly logical. If a virus is going to cross the species barrier it’s most likely to do so in China.

However you inferred a deliberate release strategy when you wrote “can always unleash another virus to follow Asian flu, Hong Kong flu, Bird flu, SARS and Covid”.

Which that article does not suggest.

Not this again. I didn't "infer" anything. That's why I said "unleash" and nothing about deliberately releasing anything. Believe it or not others are capable of writing what they mean.

When you “unleash” anything it’s a deliberate act. If it was an accident it would be an escape.

When I unleash my dog it’s me in control. If he pulls the lead from my hand it’s him.

Thus your choice of words did infer an intentional act, despite your denials and protests.

That you seem to think otherwise is unfortunate but doesn’t change the meaning of words.

From the Cambridge dictionary:-

“to let happen or begin something powerful that, once begun, cannot be controlled“.

Insider trading is the norm. But they wheel it out when someone's had their hand in the till, or hasn't paid off the right people.
I generally agree with you on this. The minute I saw the back tracking, I thought market manipulation.
The truth is - it shouldn't be that easy to manipulate.
I lose 5-10 grand from my pension fund. A hedge fund investor makes another billion in his penthouse apartment or country mansion. That's the way.

Anyways looks like the stock market is rebounding 🤣 all it took was for countries to get their act together and initiate trade talks.

The tariff approach is the same as with Mexico and Canada. We already seen it play out so no surprises with the 90 days extension and what's happened today.

Not what I meant and the inference is all yours but have it your way, since you will anyway.
China restrained the virus in all respects.
And it was all Trump's fault anyway.

It's rebounding because he's been pressured to row back on the tariffs by the Fed because the US bond rate was rising due to inflation and recession fears.
