US Politics

Revising and reviewing the programmes is the responsibility of auditors. Who will know far better than us what motivated each of them.

Just closing down everything is beyond stupid. It’s a heartless demonstration of selfishness which might make a few rednecks happy but will damage forever the position of the USA.
Politicians are elected to take these decisions for everybody else.

And people say trump is the bad guy.
I call it TDS 🤔
The only ones deluded about Trump are those who think he is in any way competent. Especially those who parrot his daily bs.

Try listening to the many voices in the USA who are very critical of him, including some who have worked closely with him. They are far from deluded.

If I am ever unsure on what trump says or does all I have to do is look at the reaction of someone with TDS. 🤣 The more mad they get the more I know Trump has made the correct decision 😃
Who gets mad?

Disgusted, concerned and fearful. Yes. Mad no. No point in anger. People like me can only try to anticipate how his actions will impact me and those I love and react. Those who think like me in the USA are the ones who can do more.

Trump and correct decision are not words that make any sense in the same sentence.

"Trump derangement syndrome is a derogatory term used to describe a form of toxic criticism and negative reaction to former President Trump’s statements and political actions," according to Alex Pattakos for Psychology Today in 2024.

"Signs of TDS can be observed along a continuum of reactions, ranging from verbal expressions of intense hostility toward President Trump to overt acts of aggression and even violence against anyone supporting or anything symbolizing him."

Never heard of Alex Pattokos. I have though heard of Wikipedia. Here is their entry:-

Here is an extract, but there’s much more on its origins and use:-

“The term has mainly been used by Trump supporters to discredit criticism of him, as a way of reframing the discussion by suggesting that his opponents are incapable of accurately perceiving the world.”

Oh, sure. What would a psychologist know compared to literally anyone with access to the internet?

I’ll do it for you then. This from the Cambridge dictionary:-

“a situation in which something which was intended to have a particular result has the opposite or a very different result“.

Seems apt enough to me.
OK, now apply that definition to this statement.

If you have an ideological agenda and are determined to find some mud then you can always dress something up to look stupid.

Meanwhile Trump has continued his daily acts of spitefulness towards anyone who opposes, criticises or even is legally retained by those who do.

He has withdrawn security clearance from a whole raft of those who disagree with him, including those involved in the various cases against him. Kamala Harris, Hilary Clinton, Letitia James, Liz Cheney plus many others.

He has also withdrawn federal funds, and security clearances, from any legal firm who accept briefs from those who seek to legally oppose his executive orders.

This is a big step down the road towards authoritarianism. How long will Congress tolerate the President ignoring the separation of power demanded by the constitution? How long before the Supreme Court is involved? John Roberts is a good man. He will see the writing on the wall.

If it’s true it’s not ironic.

It was a comment directed at the claims made in the list produced by the WH. Which were highly selective and without any context. Thus true.

I wasn’t determined to find any mud or needed to dress anything up! It was all there in plain sight.

TDS.

  1. “In the first stage of the disease, victims lose all sense of proportion. The president-elect’s every tweet provokes a firestorm, as if 140 characters were all it took to change the world.”
  2. “The mid-level stages of TDS have a profound effect on the victim’s vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting solely of hyperbole.”
  3. “As TDS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.”

4. Spending your Saturday night fuming about Trump 🤣

I don't get the furore over Trump cancelling security clearance for a number of Democrats.

Biden did the same thing to Trump and the media loved it.

On a more serious note the question the media should be asking is why should a failed Presidential candidate and their entourage have security clearance in the first place? They are not part of the government and not involved indecision making, I thought the idea of security is to limit the amount of secret information so it doesn't leak out. I see no reason why anyone outside of the government should have access. In a time of national emergency the president can always call in the opposition and brief them.

On the same topic I note that 400 ex MPs still have special access to parliament, why? They are no longer MPs so have not earthy reason to be given access that is denied to the public.

That fits perfectly with the Wiki summary of how and why this prerogative terminology is used by the unthinking deplorables who support Trump.

It very obviously has no factual basis.

Biden removed Trump’s clearance for very sound reasons, which were substantiated when it was discovered he deliberately retained boxes of classified documents on leaving office.

Trump is doing it through spite and self interest. Removing the ability of attorneys to review classified information means that evidence in support of challenges to his actions cannot now be seen.

This morning I read that Putin has convinced Witcoff, Trump’s golfing buddy he has sent as his “envoy”, that he can be trusted. Read the account of the interview he has given to Tucker Carlson:-

We are back to where we were before Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. Putin’s demands are all going to be accepted by Trump who will dress them up as being fair and deserved.

Neither Putin nor Trump can be trusted. This will be a long 4 years unless Congress stand up and start to be counted.
