US Politics

Imagine Russia sending their politicians over to campaign...

Surely it's election interference.
It's such a dumb thing to do.

1. It will be perceived as foreign nationals interfering in a domestic election. I look forward to MAGA for the Tories.
2. What happens to UK relations if the Democrats lose? Have Labour considered that they might have to deal with a Trump presidency for the next 4 years?
3. It's pointless, 100 people are not going to have an impact, besides the Democratic party is well funded they don't need the help.

It’s like a student field trip.

Who is funding this? Political interference? I cannot believe any political party can be so stupid. Imagine if the Tories had done this in support of Trump, a Cornish meltdown would be in full flow

It's also hilarious.....smells of just how desperate the Democrats are.

What are they going to do?....advise the Democrats to convince the Republicans to split their vote by creating a further right wing party?

Yeah, I really see Starmer types managing to do that.

Nope, the Democrats are getting what they have coming and considering the mess they have made amid poisoning their justice system against their opponents it's richly deserved.

Whatever happened to the good old days when the government kept out of foreign elections and the PM congratulated the winner, even if he had to hold his nose.

Back in the days when they weren't all part of the same club giving each other a seat on the gravy train.

The only signs of desperation that I detect are coming from the Republicans as they try to keep Trump on message.

The repetition of the lie that Trump has been politically targeted by the legal system might be something we have come to expect in the USA but to read it here is really appalling. We are better than that.

Rumour is the Democrats are bringing in tens of thousands of illegals to the swing states and giving them citizenship and voting rights.
true or false?

As with most things political in the US the answer is never a yes or no.

It is true through government figures that illegal immigrants are disproportionately being moved into swing states.

It is true that 15 states do not require voters to provide identification to cast a ballot.

That said I’m unaware of the government handing out fast track citizenship to allow illegals to vote in this election!

Sounds much more like the typical slanderous disinformation which is the stock in trade of the Trump campaign.

The Democrats would be beyond stupid to try to pull a trick like that. It would be so easy to expose if true. It would be like committing suicide.

From what I have read those going are not being “sent” by Labour or going in any kind of official capacity.

They are going as volunteers, as individuals who are paying their own expenses, although accommodation will be arranged by their hosts.

All Labour has done is advise people of the opportunity. Something the Republicans could also have requested, even if it was much less likely to get a response.

So this seems to be much more froth than substance but nonetheless the way it has been handled has been very careless.

I wonder if Farage pays for his own trips to support Trump?

Surely there is a cut off point for registering to vote? I guess not in America.

I remember hearing first hand accounts of people seeing labour campaigners handing out welcome packs and how to vote to immigrants just off the boat in the UK.
