Unfunny 'comedy'

I saw her on Apollo and I found her sketch about her former boyfriend complimenting her anus to be very funny.

On the basis of that, and full of hope, I watched a whole performance on Netflix... and it was dismal.
another thing about Katherine Ryan is that she is just one everything - every sh ite talk show, new comedy panel show etc.

How much money does 1 person need? When you are that over exposed you just start boring people

She was on a holiday programme with Joe Wilkinson when heavily pregnant, so she couldn't do any of the activities. WTF??

I'm of the opinion there is no 'unfunny' comedy. Just not funny to some individuals. It's a very personal thing. There are a few things I do not find funny - but someone must or they wouldn't keep putting them on telly. Apart from Rosie Jones. She is definately an exercise in box ticking.

Fair point

But absolutely fabulous and mrs browns boys are still s*** 😀

That coke doesn't pay for itself.

Judgement: sh1t and wouldn't.

Only one of the three was even vaguely shaggable.

How they uglyed their way through a million series and a few films is an object lesson in how wine mums and gays will just watch any old crap if it's got some handbags and dresses in it.

David Jason licks the crust off a dead pig's bum.
Growing up watching only fools and horses with parents and brother is one of my fonder memories on a weekend

And classic American comedy movies like planes trains and automobiles. Anything with John candy or bill murray tbf

Gene wilder, Walter Matthau. Golden age of teles dead isn’t it. 🥹

Father Ted?
Good call.
Yes, Minster was witty and The Thick of It was a more scabrous update on that. The American version Veep was good too.
I liked Toast of London for it's pure oddness but can see it wouldn't be to everyone's taste.
Curb Your Enthusiasm was good.
Still Game is funny but so specifically Scottish it might not work for everybody and Two Doors Down is the same.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is so Jewish you get the urge to bomb Gaza after watching it.
Great comedy.

Can Katherine Ryan be described as comedy at all? More like a nagging missus who hates you - which isn't particularly funny except in Fawlty Towers.
And somebody said Rosie Jones. The thread should end there really. People just uncomfortable - including loads of really woke people.
For a laugh, watch Rosie Jones with your missus and laugh at all the jokes. Watch the reaction, then accuse them of bias. Great laugh.
Put one of her youtube videos on the 2x speed setting. Still unfunny but you get through it quicker.

I always found it hard to believe considering the writer and the two lead characters in it, how painfully rubbish green green grass was

It just shows how hard it is to write good sitcom even for someone who had at least 2 hit shows.

One of the key devices in sitcom is to jam different personalties together so they are stuck with each other e.g. Porridge or the family unit (Steptoe and Son) or work related (The Office, Are You Being Served). Where a sitcom doesn't work is when the viewer starts thinking why on earth do these people put up with each other, that's the moment it has failed.
