Unfunny 'comedy'

Some of their records were good too. Live at Drury Lane was a favourite.
Yeah. The record version of the Oscar Wilde sketch is actually better than the TV one.

Gavin and Stacey - Arrrrggghhh one dimensional characters, with three reoccurring bits. The phrase what's occurring is so hilarious, who cares about the fishing trip and just get on and eat your 2 Bhunnas.

Rosie Jones - I just find it too hard to understand her. Comedy is about timing.

Keith Lemon - Vulgar unfunny human.

The masters of timing in sitcoms were Ronnie Barker and David Jason. I struggle to think of a funny sitcom without them in apart from ‘Fawlty Towers’.

David Jason as Blanco in Porridge was brilliant and imo an under used character, Porridge is in my top 3 all time best comedies

Big bang theory. I have never found one episode I watched funny.
Well I love it. Well written and full of funny lines. One of the Best American comedies with good characters.
Another is 30 Rock. Packed full of gags and brilliantly performed.

Most comedy is rubbish and doesn't age well. It also depends on the age of the viewer. I still laugh at On the Buses and Please Sir, especially the movie, but British comedy does not generally set a high standard. That is why we still revere Fawlty Towers, Python, Porridge etc. Of the newer stuff I can think of, Alan Partridge, Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner, Nighty Night, Game Face and The Inbetweeners are one's that have made me laugh out loud.

It would take too long to list stuff that isn't funny. Mrs Brown's Boys is beyond terrible, and some of the stuff aimed at 'minorities' beggars belief. You can't joke about much these days anyway. The thought police will be on to you.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. The bit when the floodlights light up is hilarious when you first see it.

I know it’s coming now, but it’s still funny🤣
I was going to say the best thing to happen at Elland Road in the 70’s, but I forgot about us beating them in the cup🤣

You are joking right?
No, not at all.

Dead parrots, lumberjacks and some silly fecker whacking his car with a branch because it won't start. Drivel.

Fawlty Towers couldn't have been that good. They only got away with making about 12 episodes.

It's all in the eye of the beholder I suppose, but I can't stand Cleese. A Fish Called Wanda - wadaloadashit.

Drivel, but funny as well, each to their own I know, but there’s certain comedies that I think if someone doesn’t raise at least a smile watching them they must be dead from the neck up 😉and fawlty towers is one of them I’m afraid

As I like you, I'll let you have that one !

What was the funny bit in it then Monkey ?

Was it Cybil screeching 'BASIL' for the umpteenth time, or Manuel getting whacked around the head again, or the bit where he says 'Don't mention the war' ?

Haha thanks mate, but I’ve never known anyone dislike it, well except mrs monkey I suppose, but she doesn’t find anything funny.

You forgot the bit where he shouts at mrs Richards ‘is this a piece of your brain?’ 😀

And what pray tell do you find funny?

You need to tell me what you find funny... Or alternatively, give me a summary of Proust's A La Recherche Du Temps Perdu in 15 seconds.

Sorted.
