Unemployment & Economically Inactive

i take your point. People who have worked hard to earn their money are entitled to leave it to whoever they wish....unfettered. And i agree with you on that part.
The problem i have, is longterm scroungers ending up wealthier than working people. Its unfair to the taxpayer who has carried an unemployed person for decades.

Lets separate out a) the giving of inheritance money from b) the receiving of the same. If the kids of Richard Branson inherit a ton of money, that is only fair if they never scrounged on the dole for a lifetime.

Both Conor McGregor and JK Rowling spent ages on benefits before making their millions. In both cases they were on the dole while putting in the groundwork to their profitable success.

Your point about wheelchair people and all that is correct. But there are many layabouts playing golf and/or video games after getting signed off for life.

I take your point as well, there is a huge difference between the worthiness of quite a lot of this kind of stuff. I think if a guy leaves his hard earned to a mother/wife who stayed at home raising his kids rather than punching cards I think we'd regard him well and that he's doing the right thing by his family.

The layabout who comes into wealth via inheritance doesn't stack up the same way.....I get it.....It's valid.

However, for myself I don't want the state starting to get ideas that it decides these things.....Partly on principle and partly because I don't trust the state to wipe its own arse without making a mess.

That’s what toilet paper is for. And that is just what we are to politicians!
