Tyrick Mitchell

Speaking of left backs, Schlupp is playing there tonight for Celtic against..........Olise with Bayern Munich.
Perhaps if he does well at left back, we can call him from his loan!
He was always ok as a full back and probably would have been ok there under Glasner as a wing back but not many, OG included, fancied him for that role. Celtic will suit him, he might get another years contract as well as a result of his strong performance last night.

I have heard Fulham fans moaning that him owning Robinson was the reason they played so badly.

That's strange as he was on the opposite side of the pitch to Robinson.

I've heard Fulham fans saying that Munoz kept him and Iwobi quiet and Mitchell did a great job on Traore.

Interesting exert from a recent Times article about Mitchell;

It's behind a paywall so including below:

"Mitchell is one of the most underrated players in the division. The data company Statsbomb produces a statistic called "On-Ball Value". It quantifies all on-ball actions on the pitch, and can be broken down into four constituent parts: passing, shooting, defensive actions and dribbles/carries.

Mitchell features 12th in the league for passing. And as the second most valuable player in the team for overall 'On-Ball Value'.

He also boasts some of the best physical figures in the division, with his high-speed running the second-best at Palace, and his accelerations per 90 the best at the club.

For a pressing team, these numbers are particularly valuable."

It's good to see Mitchell getting that recognition. Vastly underrated by some on here.

I read the article yesterday, very data driven of course.

Interestingly the author claimed that our high pressing game is made easier by the fact that the Selhurst Park pitch is one of the smallest in the league. He clearly didn't look at our home record before writing that !

Agree. He's such a solid performer.

AC Milan are interested(allegedly) . . .

Might make a few posters happy if he leaves.
i suspect that is paper talk based on the assumption that his contract expires this summer as has been widely reported - this is incorrect it is 2027.

Personally i think Chilwell hasn't done a great deal and the comparison between the two only makes me think how undervalued Mitch is. Yes, not the greatest in the last 3rd and his crossing is a bit inconsistent but he is reliable, a solid defender and is rarely injured.
