I hate loans for this reason. TC couldn't get a game there comes to us shows some form and Chelsea recall him because they don't have enough defenders.

This is the 2nd time Chelsea have used us to improve their players (Gallagher).

I would suggest we stop doing business with them.

Why else would they use a loan other than to improve their players?

The other side of that coin of course is that they’ve both been successful loans for us. Better that than bringing in loans who we don’t improve. It’s the nature of loans and the reason clubs prefer an option to buy attached to the loan deal.

Mitchell is 5ft9. That is highly unlikely to get in anyone’s back line. Only player of that height I can think of currently playing at the back is Lisandro Martinez. He has struggled badly at times with the physical side of the game.

Clyne is also only 5 9 and he acquitted himself pretty well last year in the position and he is at the tail end of his career. Agree it is a bit unusual but not many teams play three at the back. Mitchell would never be considered as one of two centre backs

He helped out in a period where we had a few out. We're over that hump now

You’d think only West Ham in the prem would pay that money and salary. I suspect Chelsea are trying to generate the money to buy Guehi this window. Let’s keep an eye on any cb’s we are realistically linked to. Will be an interesting close of the transfer window. If only Guehi would sign a deal with a release clause we can agree on so we can confidently keep him until the summer

Chalobah? Guehi played in CM that game. Moved back 2nd half and Kamada played central with Devenney. TC played right of the back 3 all game

Guehi played the first half against Fulham in midfield. He then went back to centre back in second half.

It's an unfortunate development that players who are often genuinely attached to a club should be the most expendable but the money clubs have to keep spending.
