I cannot access that website, whichever browser I use or via VPN. Access being denied. Finding anything about the organisation behind it, the “Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund” (LELDF) proved difficult to find. It’s not any kind of official one though, being run by an ex Deputy Police Commissioner, Jason C. Johnson who seems to have a particular chip on his shoulder about gun control and the need for longer sentences for criminals.

So without being able to read the allegations I cannot comment other than to say the summary I read doesn’t suggest there is anything of substance to them.

A Deputy Police Commissioner who wants longer sentences for criminal? Good Heavens. What a remarkable thing.

He doesn’t want any kind of gun control but does want to lock people up for longer. This being specifically in the context of justice in the USA. I would argue that’s the responsibility of politicians and not the police. Now he is a private citizen he is as entitled to express his views as anyone else but no more.

I would argue that policemen generally take a dim view of criminals and consequently wanting them out of circulation for as long a possible doesn't seem unreasonable.

I would argue that policemen generally take a dim view of criminals and consequently wanting them out of circulation for as long a possible doesn't seem unreasonable.

Like kneeling on their neck until they die, or just shooting them? That way they are permanently out of circulation!

What convoluted bs.

That some people believe in causes to the degree that they are involved in many protests doesn’t mean they are professionals. That implies they do it for money whilst the truth is they do it because they care. You might disagree with what they believe but that doesn’t mean they are professionals.

That an umbrella organisation exists which coordinates protests on behalf of the Palestinians is hardly a surprise. Whether one of the Foundations supported by Soros to promote democracy themselves support another group interested in promoting democracy in the Middle East, which in turn provides support to movements complaining about the lack of democracy in a particular area, doesn’t mean that Soros is paying protestors. Or that he believes in their cause. It only means that he believes they have the right to express their opinion.

Whether that be a) a tough guy like on The Sweeney or b) dancing around in a rainbow hat and making a fool of yourself c) rummaging through the dustbin of Tommy Robinson and looking for evidence of him failing to recycle his plastics correctly ?

Of course it isn’t!

The guy has previous. Any police officer seeing him anywhere doing anything would immediately be suspicious. Just as I would be. If he asked to see his phone, and it was refused, those suspicions would increase. Being on route to, or from, France could, depending on the circumstances, raise questions about terrorism.

If he had nothing to hide why refuse? I have never been asked to show my phone but would in an instant. It’s only people like him who get asked. I would abandon the need to invoke terrorism suspicion and make it compulsory to release your PIN if requested by an officer of the law. Only criminals need to fear that.

It is entirely political. It’s interesting to note that you say of course it isn’t.

Let’s see if you still try and voice that opinion when the judge throws this case out!
