Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

First time I’ve seen Steve P look, less than his usual collected self yesterday in his post match interview. Even when the camera panned to him at his seat in the game, the bloke looked really troubled and stressed.. I thought his eyes gave it away more than anything. Obviously we are not privy to what the reasons for this may be. Obviously not a good look with both Oli’s and Steve’s contradictory comments, there’s clearly and unsurprisingly an issue with those two now. I think the damage is probably already done, irrespective of who we get in now. Oli is gone, either following the close of the window or end of the season for sure. I don’t blame him, if there was ever a time to back the manager in the seat, it was now.
sounds like someone meeting in the morning and knowing that will not go well. we are still going well but for how long

It really isn't unusual for a manager and a chairman to be at odds when transfers both in and out are occurring during a transfer window. I imagine Thomas Frank is feeling equally frustrated that the pot of gold promised to him hasn't meant him being able to sign the players he wanted.

I'm not sure how we could possibly replace Eze without selling him first. We just don't have the funds to go out and spend £30M on a player without the outgoing transfer being finalised. To do something before that occurred, like Glasner seems to have wanted would just weaken our position as clubs would know we'd take less for Eze to balance the books.

Not only are we hamstrung by financial constraints where we need to sell before we buy, we are then trying to attract players that other EPL sides are not going to try and steal our targets.

Last night was definitey an indication that OG is very unhappy. He made his point perfectly clear by only making one substitution.

Anyone else feel it was odd that he didn't bring Esse on?

Does he not trust him? Is he trying to make a point with bringing OE on? (surely one of the 2 told they can leave)

Basing it on the last time he was used as a substitute vs Liverpool at Anfield, and then subbed him off I'd say he's got some work to do to get back into OG's plans.

I would have thought last night was a perfect opportunity to play either Esse or Rak-Sakyi.

Agree. I can't think why we've left it this late when I think everyone knew that we would lose Eze and/or Guehi. I can only think that Parish got distracted by the EUFA appeal and didn't want to sign players until we knew for sure what was going on, but that's just an excuse as we would need them regardless as we all knew we'd be playing in Europe one way or another.

I think Parish has messed up with this one.
I think too much focus on the outcome and appeal of Europe has massively impacted us and boards focus

After Glasner, Pulis has probably had the most impressive season ive seen from a manager at Palace. That squad should have never stayed up, he pretty much performed a miracle, not forgetting he had already made Stoke an established midtable team.
Pulis was a snake. He lost court case and had to pay club over £2m in compensation. He should never be our reference point as a manager

I totally agree with this, he is well out of his depth, And at what point does he lose the f-king halo that surrounds him. We are pretty much going to lose the best Manager we have ever had & in my opinion Solely because of SP and his management & false promises, I can't see any decent player staying at a club with no ambition for more than a season or two. And that's where we are, I am Palace through & through, But every season its the same thing, And now without Dougie to pluck diamonds from the lower divisions, I feel SP is holding the club back, And yes I know we just won the FA Cup etc. But we had the opportunity to do something special this season, But nope ain't going to happen, I just hope I regret writing this, This is written our of frustration

Have you noticed a pattern here with managers that do good job excluding Roy they all have walked.

All of them it appears to be lack of ambition.

I have said it for years SP is holding us back he is a nation level businessman not a global and his whole rants about multi club to me shows he's out of touch.

Who cares about a sporting director, its a new thing in football, Parish is chairman, its his job to step into that role, alongside the manager and team of analysts and scouts, they should still be able to work together to identify and sign targets.
Im sick of the excuses, its been a terrible summer, the squad hasnt been improved and now 1 week into the season the actual first 11, let alone the squad is weaker than last season.

Who cares how about all the clubs which have been successful.

What do you class as new that role has been around for decades because Palace are slow at putting things like this in place doesn't mean it's meaningless.

A chairman does not do that role or skilled enough to do it just take a look at the clubs which did allow chair persons etc to do it West Ham for example.

While SP stays in his role we will continue to be like this he's not a good businessman and wont gamble.

CLubs that pump money in have gains many are doing this in stadium upgrade/ new builds and spend 100m+ every season sooner or later we will suffer I believe it was Stoke who was the same solid for long time but kept playing it safe.

Rubbish that guy saved us and I believe had he been backed would have stayed on.

People like to point out things like this yet they forget SP underhanded tactics to take over the club to begin with (If SJ stories was lies SP would have taken legal action to have it removed from his book plus silence him about it)

There has been some talk lately about banners, the best banner would be a respectful " Are we skint Steve" every indication says so.

But who saved the whole club first? The club that Pulis would never have been able to manage in the first place if it had been allowed to go under.

I agree Pulis did a great job and is a big part of where we are today, but I’m not having him leaving as another stick to beat parish with, a clash of personalities maybe and Pulis making demands parish didn’t like, so we parted company, it happens.

Pulis did a good job for us but he went on to manage West Brom, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday and had problems at all of them.

Glasner said that some of our targets are gone but 'there are a few in the drawer.'
Can the drawer be prised open?

I can't see us paying £45m for Dibling.

There seemed to be a genuine interest in El Khanouss, but perhaps that was a smokescreen or maybe that deal has gone cold.

Nothing seems that advanced in truth with lots of agent spin and media speculation
Perhaps we'll unveil 2 brilliant signings on Monday , but it doesn't seem likely.
In the meantime, for the next 2 games we need to retain Guehi and hope Kamada is back.
Kamada all of a sudden looks to be a key player.

We had our Zaha replacement in Eze / Olise long before he left. Why did we not do similar and have our Eze replacement long before this? 🤷🏻‍♂️
I think he is called Esse, but unfortunately, he hasn't impressed Glasner.
We should have secured another replacement before Eze walked.
