Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

We need new players, instead Parish wasted his time and club money on pursuing a cause he was never going to win because it's obvious the club broke the rules and failed to respond to emails on the subject. Had the club done so then, like NF did. they may have been able to apply for an extension, to give the club time to sort the mess out. We now have to face the final few days of a transfer window without a sporting director to do the groundwork and get deals over the line. We all know Parish is not the man to do this and its seems clear that if as a club we do not support Oliver in this window then its highly likely he will walk according to his reported comments in the press.

Oliver has achieved horizons for this club that no other manager has ever done and we should help him as he has requested.

I've been ignoring Dead Grumpy since the new website was released. If enough people do it, he (or she) will soon be ranting at him (or her) -self.

That is because people like yourself don't like the truth you prefer to keep living in your fantasy land.

The other poster was spreading misinformation and even posted up links to try argue those links data even showed I was correct when I stated "around 20m" if you win which is true.

Not my fault people here are so sensitive and rose tinted specs.

If some proves me wrong one a subject I will own up to it but they haven't.

Anyway back to the subject this thread is suppose to be about.

Confusion at the top is apparently slowing our progress to complete business. No replacement for Freedman, etc.
Not sure why £55 million gets a player with a £68 million release clause…unless it’s to tempt Spurs into joining in the bidding and getting it to that level.

On the 'Eze to Spurs' thread clickbait/bbc are saying Spurs will get him.
Selling Eze would be insane. Guehi would be a business decision, but we will be in a relegation battle if we sell two of our best players.

There will be no progress at this club until we lose the small club mentality. We should be looking to consolidate after winning our first proper trophy and qualifying for Europe.

So parish now says we cant afford to let Guehi leave on a free, so its sign a new contract or we need to sell, hasnt it been obvious he's not interested in signing a new contract, this should have been sorted already, seems desperation to me and parish is hoping for a bid as Guehi seems more than happy to run his contract down and get a big signing on fee next year.

That should have been established in the last window. If MG wasn’t going to sign he should have been sold as soon as the window opened to give OG half a chance. Now it’s ridiculous with our first game 5 days away. FFS.

I think part of the problem here is registration rules for the conference league. You are allowed 25 players with 8 being homegrown players, a minimum of 4 being homegrown at club (3 years between 15-21) and the rest of the 8 being homegrown in association (aka England/Wales). This leaves 17 spots for anyone else. You are also allowed unlimited U21 players on a B list provided they have been at the club for more than 2 years (so I think Wharton would not count for this until January).

From my quick look I think we currently have a squad of:
Home Grown Club:
Mitchel
Clyne
Rak-Sakyi

Home Grown Administration:
Henderson
Nketiah
Eze
Guehi
Hughes
Wharton
Esse

Other:
Matthews
Benitez
Munoz
Lacroix
Sosa
Richards
Riad
Sarr
Lerma
Kamada
Doucoure
Devenny
Franca
Mateta
Edouard

So if I am understanding this correctly we currently can have a squad of 24. 4 can be from home grown administration so 3 will just be registered in the other 17 spots. We already have 15 players in there so with the 3 from home grown administration are already over the limit.

There are some things we could do. We could register 2 keepers and not 3 to save a spot and put a U21 keeper on the B list. We could not register some of our injured players until January like Riad and Doucoure, however we would then have an issue in January of registration. I have not fully looked at the dates but I think if Wharton is able to move to Home Grown at Club or the B list in January that would allow us 1 additional signing currently. We could leave some players like Edouard off the list, although with injuries to Nketiah that seems less likely now.

Essentially what it comes down to is any signings we make now would have to replace someone on this list if they want to play in the conference league unless I have misunderstood the rules or made a mistake somewhere.

Doesn’t Devenny count as homegrown ?

You have to have 3 'keepers in the squad for European competitions.

The 3 keepers can be split between the A and B list. So we can either register 3 keepers on our A list or more likely I think register 2 keepers on the A list and put a youth keeper on the B list for each match who will never play.

Looks like Liverpool just offered £35M - been accepted, just personal terms to sort..!!

Thank you Mr Hindsight. Do you know what the content of the emails were and did you know that different advice was provided to privileged members of the ECA whom we are not members of. Do you know whether we were told by UEFA that we were considered to be a team in multi club ownership and would therefore be required to comply with their new date before entering any competition with a European prize?

I’m guessing you don’t know the answers to these questions and Parish’s legal team were fuming because CAS refused access to or to reveal documents and emails that could have benefited our case.

I cannot believe that as a Palace fan you think we should have just gone, “oh yeah, your right let’s just give up our place in the Europa League” as you suggest above.

I fully support Parish in challenging this to the fullest extent but this does not mean that I excuse him from not getting players through the door. They are two entirely different things and the vital players we require (a forward and a CH) would be required regardless of which tournament we were likely to be in.

I also don’t know how you associate the loss of Freedman and a replacement (if that is actually the plan), with our appeal to CAS. Do you not think this was capable of being dealt with at the same time?

In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence.

'' L.J.Peters''
Yep this is bordering on incompetence now..!!

Whatever deal we do now - we’ll be paying a premium for..!!

I said right at the top - we’ve won the FA Cup and qualified for Europe - let’s build on the momentum and do our business early..!!

No - normal modus operandi ensues - we procrastinate and procrastinate - now we’re in a real mess again and a race against time again..!!

Honestly you couldn’t make it up - same season after season, window after window - when is SP ever going to learn..!!

Before anyone says the whole Europa / Conference thing was a sideshow and a nonsense - we were never winning that argument..!!
