Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

This whole Europa thing is taking its toll - so far this window we have signed 2 players Benetiz on a free and for £2M..!!

Our competitive season starts in 2 weeks with the Charity Shield, then Chelsea the week after.

We know we are at least in the UEFA Conference, progression in that would add another significant amount of games - what 15 - that’s what another quarter of a season.

The current squad is nowhere near equipped enough for that in terms of resource or in depth quality.

Our problem last season was that we did our Business far too late in the window and it took us 2 months to get into our stride - we didn’t win a game until late October..!!

It’s happening again - when will SP learn..!!

Look I get we’re battling with UEFA - but at the same time we’ve got to be taking care of Business on the pitch in terms of recruitment - otherwise last season will be for nothing in terms of tangible progression.

So quite simply we’ve got to start doing Business and quickly - starting with sorting out the Guehi situation he’s either going or he ain’t - personally I’d rather he goes at least we get some money for him rather than letting him run down his contract - beyond that IMO he’s overrated.

So SP time to start doing the do - that’s what your paid for..!!

Last season we finished mid table whilst supporting a cup run. Could we feasibly finish mid table whilst winning the Europa Conference with our current squad? Answers on a post card...

I think he's doing pretty well

Our squad is decent.

Really..!!

SP is doing his normal thing - loving the limelight, giving some nice interviews whilst doing nothing tangible….!!

There is no way our squad is equipped for the rigours of the Premier League season and domestic cup competitions - with the added burden of a campaign in Europe be that Europa or Conference and be challenging/competitive..!!

I understand that you don't hold Parish in a favourable light, but "loving the limelight"? Get a grip..!!

We can only have 25 seniors in the squad, any others are a waste of money..!!

Oh, and ..!! 😉

If Parish doesn't get his fuckin head in gear and sort the squad we're in for a shite season.
Didn’t we say that last year too?!

I’m just joking, I would like to see some new signings sooner rather than later. Hopefully they are working on a few deals on the quiet!!

You make some good points but you are saying Guehi is over rated? If yes in what way is he over rated? I think he has been excellent for us, although I do agree I’d rather cash in and sign a longer term replacement to battle with Chadi Riad for Guehi’s role

Our current squad.
Naturally I'd like to see Edouard and Holding replaced but to do that we'd need somebody to come in for them first.

The OP is correct. The Europa thing has become a distraction, maybe inevitably so. That said planning on the basis of Conference entry should be the priority. If we overturn the verdict that's a bonus and doesn't alter the squad size we need. It may sway the odd target, but move on.
OG made his view clear last year and it seems to be happening again. That's the worry.
It would surprise me little if there was for instance a last minute loan deal for Rashford, when Man U realise they can't sell him. They will subsidise the wages, the player is seen with the World Cup on the horizon, and we have a 'wonderful player' for a year, except of course he's just ok.
The truth I suspect is we want the incoming money for MG first. If that's the case get the deal done.

It i remember correctly, or was it a rumour, that Eze's Release clause was only applicable for the first 6 weeks of the transfer window opening, which is on July 21st, so if that is true, after that, he isn't going anywhere, which to me means the only important player that may leave, is Guehi, who isn't hard to Replace.

Despite our greatest ever season, the usual panic over the lack of signings is kicking in again I see.
I’m more bothered about keeping our top players because I’m sure they’ll be two or three decent signings heading our way
As Lanzo said, it’s looking promising with Eze with Arsenal making other attacking signings now and spurs signing Kudos
Plus despite the click bait, with our cup win our other top players will be easier to keep
So don’t stress it people, this is a summer like we’ve never had before 😁

The Community Shield is in 3 weeks not 2 and none of the team that finished 12th and won the FA Cup have left.
You need to get a bit of perspective rather than having a go at our most successful Chairman ever.

Have to say painter I agree, I did think SP would be given some slack with the usual lack of signings hysteria this summer, especially as last summer the club did a superb job of replacing Olise and Andersen

Our FA cup winning team are still all at the club.

We've arguably upgraded our back up keeper, and got some very experienced LB cover. All for a couple of mill.

Quite a few of our 'competitors' have had big players leave, Bournmouth, Brentford, Forrest, Wolves.

Fulham haven't signed anyone.

Have some perspective, and some trust that the leaders are doing their job.

Your usual anti-Parish bashing rubbish.

Get your dates right first of all - August 10th in the Community Shield is 3 weeks away.

I agree that the squad could do with some additions to support a European competition, but bear in mind that Glasner, who has won the Europa League previously, also prefers working with a smaller squad.

If we end up in the Conference, that could be an opportunity for some of the U21 players to step up - some people on here consistently moan about their not being given a chance.

One of the problems, not '' the problem '' as you incorrectly state, was the late business conducted in the transfer window. But far more impactful was the absence of a proper pre season for players on England duty in the Euros and our Colombian pair in the Copa America .

You seem to think Parish can wave a magic wand and make transfers happen. It doesn't work like that. Palace have to strive to do the best deals that they can get. That can mean doing late business like when we sold Andersen for £30m and replaced him with a younger, better player for a little over half of that.

As regards Guehi, again you demonstrate ignorance. The player is under contract. He clearly favours a move to Liverpool. But if they don't come in for him, he has a right to stay put. So how exactly do you expect that to get '' sorted out '' ?

Steve Parish isn't perfect. But I think Textor was right when he described him as '' the smartest guy in the room ''.
