Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

Same old -Parish every season, Waits until everyone else has done business. Then maybe picks up from who no one else wants, He does not like signing early and paying the 3 months wages before the season starts, Its a joke, I am so frustrated, 17 senior players + under 21s to cope with the League, Cup and Europe, Its Pathetic, I am sure he will get someone late, and we will have a similar start to last season. Based on that I am sure Glasner won't be around after this season
Which is it then ??

Pathetic, K*** H***

Parish is a top man and bleeds red & blue blood.

Those questioning his business plan just need remind themselves of the mess we were in before he took over.

Does it not make sense to wait a few more days to see the outcome of the UEFA ruling - then add further players accordingly depending where we are playing? There may also be a couple of potential players waiting to see which cup we will be playing in?

Really - Liverpool just spent c.£300M we’ve spent £3M..!!

If you seriously think we can be competitive on Sunday against that - I’ll take some of whatever it is you’re drinking..!!

Just can’t believe this blind faith in Parish - there is no plan, no strategy - it’s all just rhetoric..!!
On that basis Man U should have won the league recently. Sunday will be a tight game

It's possible to think Parish has been an excellent chairman (as I do) but still be concerned about the window.

It's not unlikely that we will face the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in the early weeks with an Edouard, Ahamada or JRS on the bench - all players we're trying to offload.
The club may take the view to retain them until last minute deals can be done at the end of the window - both incoming and outgoing.

Hence Glasner's reference to a possible slow start if we didn't get business done early; a perfectly reasonable point in my view.

With Nketiah's injury, if Mateta is substituted on 65 mins in Nketiah's absence the options would be either switch Sarr to the middle and push Kamada/ Devenny further forward or use Edouard, Esse or JRS.
I just don't see these as great options to score goals and win games.

I may well be looking at this in simplistic terms , but we got Benitez and Sosa done early. No hanging around for them looking at other options.
If we are looking at a deal for a player in e.g June and that player says (quite reasonably) that he wants to consider his options and wait until the last minute, you move on to another target who is willing to commit early (as Benitez and Sosa have done).
If we retain our best players It's not as if we'll be shopping at Harrods.
We'll be looking a level below for better options than the likes of JRS , Edouard and Ahamada.
We will need a stronger bench than currently available with the inevitable rotation and possible injuries/unavailability.

Bare minimum is another Central defender.

Ideal window is CD, young striker, winger plus what we got. However, Nketiah probably means our hands are tied on striker. If we could get a Sarr type player on the other side, great. But probably not.
Also could do with another full back unless we fancy seeing Clyne, Kphora, Devenny cover it.

We're going to be pretty thin in at least one area. We always are. We are currently paper thin in all positions and it's pretty clear Glasner will not be using the youngsters much.

I was going to swerve contributing any more to this thread, but here goes...

I'm disappointed - and a little surprised - that we haven't added more to the squad so far.

But that would be for ' squad players ' - back up's in case of need. Which we are increasingly in need of given that we now have a number of injuries. But in signing that type of player, you still have that player on the books even when the injured players return. So I think the loan market is a prudent solution.

Bear in mind also that the contributions last season of Doucoure, Franca and Riad were minimal. None of them are ' starters ' while we have our best eleven available. So I contend that they are only really missed from a numbers perspective.

I've said it before, some on here agree, some don't, that we have had a number of disrupters to contend with this summer. The UEFA debacle, the changes at Board level and the uncertainty around Guehi and Eze.

If you look at the financials, I don't think we can afford to spend big money - I'm talking in the region of £30m+ on players unless they are either potentially as good as what we have or better - unless we lose Guehi and or Eze. Then that would be straight forward replacements. Guessand is going to Villa for a £30m package. Our reported interest in him seems to have driven the price right up. At the talked about £20m fee I think he would have been a good signing given his versatility and provided genuine competition up front. At another £10m - in my opinion - that ceases to be the case.

I've said I'll judge the window when it closes and I stand by that.

As for the criticisms of Steve Parish, well guess what - he's not perfect. He makes mistakes. Things don't always work out as he would like.

But to call him '' average '' is insulting and doesn't take into account the clubs achievements over the last 15 years.

There's no uncertainty over Eze, if arsenal activate his release clause he's gone, the club should already have a plan in place, in the eventuality of that happening, to use that as an excuse for why our window has been so poor is just a cop out.

Arsenal can activate his release clause, if it's still in operation, all they want, if Eze doesn't want to go there & be an 'occasional' player, he won't. End. of. Story.

If anybody saw the interview yesterday it appears that most of the transfers hinge on a big move at the top of the tree and then us smaller fish fall into place.

only a few weeks of this s*** to go. I can’t wait for the window to close so we can just get on with the football. I’m certain there will be some incomings but I maintain it will be a very good window if the fa cup winning team stays together for a full season.

why have you spoken to him personally and you know this as fact mmmmmmmm

arsenal try to buy on the cheap Eze 68m at this time and if release clause has expired 80m they wont pay that

I dont need to speak to him personally, why do you think he has a release clause in his contract ? If arsenal activate it, he's gone

Gosh, we waited to pick up those players that no-one else wanted and ended up with:
Eze, Guehi, Olise, Wharton, Munoz, Lacroix, Richards, Mateta, Sarr, etc., clearly rubbish players because no-one else wanted them. If that really was the case, then long may it continue.

you do know your talking about arsenal who paid over 70m for a player that turned out tobe crap instead of paying us 65m for wilf
Weren't we asking for 80m? I think Arsenal went for the cheaper option. Pepe was obviously a mistake but I'm not sure Zaha would have proved value for money either
