Having read all these comments I cannot believe no-one has called out the obvious - this all on Parish, no idea, no plan, no strategy..!!

It was obvious from OG's comments in the summer - he was frustrated with our transfer dealings and the lack of investment.

But as usual Parish did the bear minimum and the last few weeks have shown that the lack of investment in squad depth has cost us dear as the amount of games players have had to play have resulted in a crippling injury list, culminating in a humiliating loss to non-league Macclesfield in our defence of the FA Cup.

How have we gone from being FA Cup, Community Shield winners and qualifying for Europe and all the the impetus and momentum from that 7 months ago to today with both our Captain and most successful Manager in our history leaving..!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - yes thank you Steve for saving us 16 years ago and for that we'll always be grateful and you'll rightly have a place in Palace history. But now you are out of your depth in terms of personal wealth and ability to take the club forward, so its time to pass the reigns over to someone who can take us on to the next level.

All the time Parish remains we will not move forward - I know it's a view that will be unpopular and unpalatable to quite a few on here - but on from today it's as plain as the nose on your face..!!

I don’t think this is a huge shock, to be honest. Glasner feels like one of those managers who makes a strong impact quickly, and to be fair he and the squad did exactly that. But was he ever going to build a five- to ten-year dynasty? Probably not.

If you look at his career pattern, it’s familiar. Goes into a club, has success, hits certain targets, then things start to plateau. The football gets found out, transfer disagreements creep in, and eventually there’s friction with the board. There’s a bit of history there now, and it feels like we’ve reached that point again.

Football runs in cycles, and Palace are no different. When Roy came back, we played some excellent attacking football for about 8-10 weeks before everything reverted back to type. It feels similar now. OG’s system looks like it’s been worked out in some respects.

We’re a very good counter-attacking side. Always have been. But we’re not particularly strong playing on the front foot, breaking teams down week after week. I don’t think OG is the manager to fundamentally change that if that’s the direction the club wants to go.

I’ll be honest, I’d be slightly worried about Gareth Southgate coming in. I’m not convinced he has the tactical plan or club-level philosophy that fits what we need right now. That said, there are plenty of good managerial options out there.

I also can’t really see OG settling into a long spell anywhere else either. He feels like an “impact” manager rather than someone who embeds himself for multiple seasons. In that sense, he’s a bit Roy Mark II. Roy was brilliant at organising teams and tightening things up, but once the opposition sat deep, we often ran out of ideas - and that was a pattern in his career (see England)

None of that takes away from what OG gave us over the last 12 months. He delivered moments and performances that most of us never thought we’d see at Palace. For that, he’ll always be welcome at Selhurst Park.

But if you look at the parallels with the end of the Patrick Vieira era, you can see the same patterns starting to form.

Recruitment goes in cycles too. The last major reset was around five years ago under Vieira, and it feels like we’re heading into another one now.

The next manager will get a summer window, some backing, and the chance to reshape the squad where it’s needed. For now, the rest of the season is about consolidation. Get through it safely, maybe push on in the Conference League if possible, and reset properly in the summer.

Will we miss OG? Possibly. But this feels like one of those moments where the timing was just right. Right club, right manager, right moment. Those things don’t last forever, and we can’t really ask for more than what we got.

And finally, from the club’s perspective, £20m for Guehi is very good business when he is going anyway

It was a chapter worth having. Now it’s closing, and it’s probably the right time to turn the page.

Let’s be honest, since end of November we have been piss poor. I said it before and say it again, an elite manager gets more points from the games we’ve played and definitely does not get knocked out the cup by a team 6 levels lower in the pyramid.

Thanks very much for the FA cup. Amazing day that will never be forgotten but that was as much about the footballing gods as it was Glasner. If Harland takes that pen City go on to win. Another day Hendo gets sent off. The gods were shining on us and it was our day.

I’ve loved our last couple of years but let’s be honest it’s been utter s*** lately and now we know why. I don’t believe the bollocks that he will give his all and I’d f*** him off now and start building for next season as early as possible.

Same with the captain, he has been amazing but it was really boring towards the end and we still get a fee. Thanks but move on.

I agree with the sentiment in that a lot of this is due to Parish. He could have tied down Glasner to a new contract earlier and backed him to the extent that he would want to sign it.

He could do nothing about Guehi leaving, other than sell him earlier to get a bigger fee and have a suitbale replacement in place to appease Glasner.

I don't want him gone though, we have moved forward onsiderably since he took the helm. Just take a step back and look at the position we are in, compared to maybe 10 years ago.

I understand the emotional reaction to our current situation, I do. For lack of articulation, it’s ’sh!t’.

I really don’t understand how Palace fans of any age above I don’t know, 20 years old, can view it in this way though.

So the guy who did prevent us from going extinct, took us into the PL for a completely unprecedented stay, saw us win the FA Cup and Charity shield, has got us playing in Europe and is developing the stadium? That fella?

It’s a direct opposition of reality to suggest that we have not only continuously moved forward under Parish but we are a completely different club to the one we once were.

Perhaps a better way to look at it is maybe, beyond the next few fixtures, the bloke who has continuously moved us forward over the past decade plus is actually the right captain to be steering the ship? There’s more than enough evidence to suggest so.

So whilst yes an emotional reaction to the short term bumps is understandable, I’d strongly encourage anyone to not throw an end of the world fit over it.

The current situation, right now, is undesirable however things will change, the world along with Palace will move on, and there’s more than enough to suggest we’ll be absolutely fine in the longer term and brighter days will return.

Managers and players come and go. They owe allegence to no one.

Parish does what's best for the club in terms of finance and keeping us in the prem. He's not perfect but I'd rather him at the helm than a bunch of others.

We arnt a "top 6" club and the sooner our fans realise that the better. Maybe when parish finally retires and we are mid table championship side some will be wishing for a return of the good times under him.

At the press conference Glasner drew parallels to the Guehi situation in relation to JPM, indicating that he will go if the price is right and if the player wants to go ( this on the back of JPM not signing a new contract).
Parish has said before he doesn't like wholesale change and tries to limit the sale of star players to one per season.
That looks less achievable at present with the uncertainty.
We need to find another Guehi, Olise, Eze ( if only it were that easy).

Well we knew in our hearts that this was very much on the cards but still comes as a downer when it happens .
Many of us believe we reached our summit last May and it was always going to be hard to continue as winners even though we made a good go of it in the first months of the season .

Glasner I'm sure will be doing all he can to make sure his stay with us has a happy ending and supporting him and the team will be crucial in how our season ends.

So turn up the volume and give him the send off he deserves

This doesn’t come as any surprise to me and suspect it was on the cards whatever we spent in the summer. Doesn’t really matter who we brought in we weren’t going to become a Champions League team (partly due to FFP and PSR) which is the level of club OG will now be looking for.

There’s a separate debate to be had about whether the squad should have been strengthened further but I don’t think it would have made a difference to OG leaving.

However, Parish and co have more to think about then Glasners ambitions. Clubs bigger than us have made bad investments and have tumbled down the leagues. As our clubs custodian he has to balance both the short and long term objectives.

e.g. Selling Guehi now is bad for the current manager, but is the best decision for the club.

As a manager, its very easy to demand lots of money to be spent, unaware of the PSR implications or bigger risks at play. But he wont be out of pocket, nor stick around to help if it all goes pear shaped.

Yeah if you look at OG’s history he doesn’t stay anywhere long. Also a history of there being noise about spending levels etc as a reason for leaving combined with plateauing form Seems to be OGs MO. In fairness to him he does also win things.

OG was always off, regardless. His ambition is bigger than Palace, no matter how much we spent. MG leaving is hardly a suprise. He was never ever going to sign a new contract and his going will give the club £20m to invest in the team.

In any other business a good CEO would be the one out in front of the comms and media, leading from the front; but not in football - they all hide in their swanky offices until the dust dies down. Some of us have had the pleasure of Bloye, Noades, Goldberg and Jordan.
Parish is better by miles and better than most at other clubs too.
We are unlikely to ever become Top 6 so have to act and budget accordingly.
Over 10 years in the Prem and you want someone else?
Look at Newcastle with their riches - with FFP etc. you just cannot throw money around.
I doubt any club can do a Man City again.
It's not blind faith, it's more of a case of looking at where we are and thinking for over 10 years we've done great.

Well, can't say that we have not had enough time to find a new manager, Parish has known since October that OG would not sign a new contract.

Better it sorted soon after the end of the season

If he is 100% confirmed as leaving, it’s possible we could announce the new manager before the end of the season. Not starting the job until then, just signed up and confirmed.

At least it would mean more certainty for the current squad and any incoming players, and less speculation to distract them.
