The Prem Relegation Dogfight

Out of the relegation teams i would take from:

Southampton: Walker-Peters, Harwood-Bellis

Ipswich: Delap

Leicester: Kristiansen

i would only take the pickings from a relegated team if they were super cheap. Seems like tainted goods to me. Maybe they look good on match-day but are a bad influence in the dressing room ?

most relegated players are just not good enough. Would we take back Ayew ? i loved him in a Palace shirt, but by next August ? almost 34 ? no thanks.

We did well to get a decent amount for Ayew and it’s worked out ok for him having another season in the PL and at least one in the Championship next season. Mind you Schluppy has done even better, first choice left back at Celtic, playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League, rave reviews, and League and cup medals to add to his PL Champions medal!

Agree. Daka hasn't really made an impact since he's joined. And still plays 2nd fiddle to an ancient Jamey Vardy.

Stats are not great this season, but liked to look of Luton's Adebayo when they were in the prem. Not as a starter but as you said, to play that role as a JMP back up.

I think his first season with Leicester he did pretty well. He spent much of this season out with an injury.
He's entering his final year of his contract if I'm not mistaken so could be bought cheap (but usually that means inflated wages)

Leicester's fall from Premiership champions to once again relegation near certainties.....especially when you look at their run-in....is more than a lesson in how smaller teams are quickly stripped of their quality assets.
Southampton too.....they were a quality side more than capable of trading blows with us and not so long ago looked like they had a bright future......They are now looking down the barrel as well.

Palace has been run very very well......the amount of moaning we get from some when you compare our performance to our income and resources just makes you think. There have been very few teams who have done as well as us for as long.....and I think the future's bright.

it frightens me whenever an Eagle shows optimism. Just remember the dollar-size of our weekly gate compared to Sunderland, Leeds, Southampton, and the top half of the Championship. Never get complacent nor believe the Prem owes us a spot in the sun.

I wanted Daka at Palace, had a very good scoring record at Salzburg and has a good International scoring record. Harshly treated at Leicester imo

That’s exactly why those banners from those bellends at Arsenal last season made me want to throw up, just because we’d had a poor run of results on the pitch, what must SP have thought?

Well Vardy is too much of a hero at Leicester for anybody else to get their foot in the door.
But you're right, 25 goals in 26 games his last season in the Bundesliga.

Interestingly we signed Ayew from a relegated side, and he was a great addition.

There is definitely value to be found in relegated sides - El Khannouss at Leicester looks an exciting prospect, and the keeper Hermansen has been really impressive.

Dibling from Saints is probably beyond our financial reach by now, but he's been very impressive in a poor side. Same for Delap at Ipswich.

I've also been impressed with Cajuste at Ipswich in both games against them this season, although I've just seen he is on loan from Napoli.
